Potential good news for US manufacturing ...

From the article:

Audi is nearing a final decision on building its first U.S.-based factory, a critical stopgap that could help the automaker mitigate some of the impact of President Trump’s 25% auto tariffs.
Döllner reaffirmed Audi’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the U.S. and growing within the North American market over the next decade. A final decision on how to proceed, including the location of the potential plant, is expected later this year.

Showerhead..I wouldnt pay 129 for one, and most wouldnt. Only presented as an either or for this narrative, I would pay $70 for a US Made over a $40 CCP, or even 100 for a 70 one. Go to Lowes.com and look at them..
Americans need to stop hoarding crap as well…

I think you just inadvertently quantified your patriotism.

I think you’ve nailed it. Mrs Wireless buys local as often as she can, knowing any premium stays in the local economy. If local is too expensive she just does without.

The big issue is not necessarily buying locally but having a fair market.

In my view, having more manufacturing in Europe and Latin America would also help us.

Issue is that if we just continue "status quo", all our companies will just outsource everything around the globe to Thailand, China, Vietnam, and India. There won't be any manufacturing anywhere else in the world unless those other countries are willing to lower their wages to match. How many of you anti-Tariff guys are up to get paid $ 5 per hour?

No, there isn't enough service or high-tech jobs to replace losing manufacturing and in some instances (such IT support and software design), that is outsourced as well.

Now you can argue automation is keeping US Manufacturing afloat and, in some ways, might be more of a threat to US labor than Asia.

Our economy is too reliant on consumerism and the need for bells and whistles .Look at vehicles..you have power seats with memory, mirrors, 8 computers, heated this and that, blah blah blah.,It is just too much, How about an appliance without a computer? I would gladly go analog on just about anything and it would be cheaper, which would offset MIA costs, and last longer.

Everything has planned obsolescence these days..gotta keep those factories cranking.

I’m in my first truck with heated/cooled seats and a heated steering wheel. I ain’t gonna go back!
