Trade Wars and Tariffs

Why wouldn’t they be doing those things already? If they’re even able.

Maybe they’ll get together and provide for their own defense while they’re at it instead of free loading off of US taxpayers for their freedom.
Hey, hopefully we do rid them, but that's about a decade long process if done in the appropriate manner.

You can see their exports being crush forcing them to focus more on internal demand. Problem being however the wages they offer their subjects do not allow them to afford their products ...

From the article:

China’s stronger-than-expected growth in the first quarter revealed a growing dependence on foreign demand, a key vulnerability that raises the threat of a sharper economic hit as trade tensions soar.

Nearly 40 per cent of first-quarter expansion in gross domestic product – which came in at 5.4 per cent – was driven by net exports, the highest share for this period in over a decade. That’s also up from last year, when trade accounted for almost a third of overall growth.

That heavy dependence on foreign demand comes at a precarious time. With the US ramping up tariffs on Chinese goods and global demand weakening amid the broader fallout from US President Donald Trump’s chaotic trade policies, the export engine helping power China’s recovery may be at risk of stalling.

Because the US had been an attractive trading partner.
Defense funding's a two-edged sword. Are you ready to lose that leverage?

Maybe they’ll be able to develop some North Korea and Cuba grade weapons systems by going it alone. Or maybe they’ll reverse engineer what they’ve got and use the CCP’s business model centered around stealing the IP.

Poor fellers. They don’t want equal or zero tariffs with the US and balanced trade. They’re the welfare mothers of world economics. They better budget for more potent navies if they plan to use those pirate infested shipping lanes.

The economy would fare better if he did.

I wonder how true this that I also read on X:

"Around April 10th China to USA trade shut down. It takes ~30 days for containers to go from China to LA.45 to Houston by sea, 45 to Chicago by train.55 to New York by sea. That means that there are no economic effects of what was done on April 10th until about May 10th.Around that time (it’s already started to happen) trucking work is going to dry up. Warehouses will start doing layoffs because no labor is needed to unload containers and some products will be out of stock, reducing the need for shipping labor. All this will start in the Los Angeles area. After about 2 weeks, it’ll start hitting Chicago and Houston."

I hate to break it to you but it's not 1955 any more, Ozzy and Harriet were canceled, and quite a few countries can make decent weapons.

Bet you can’t name one that doesn’t have US defense technology in their most effective weapons systems. Before you say Israel, they are cooperating with the negotiations.

Maybe the sharpened sticks that North Sentinel Island utilizes.

And yet we're still bring shunned.

But we’re upsetting our allies and heading towards isolationism.

“The White House has said more than 100 countries have reached out to the U.S. to initiate trade talks after Trump announced sweeping universal tariffs earlier this month and 18 have formally submitted proposals.”
Let's file this under promised but yet unfulfilled. May be time to add a 6th folder to that file cause the other five folders are getting pretty overfull.

I don't know about the workers, but CEOs are warning of empty shelves.

As of now that doesn't matter. If and as we become less reliable they'll further distance themselves from dependence us. Don't forget that we collaborate with other countries on weapons development, which means we get some benefit from them too.
I wouldn't bring up Israel. We'll just give them more money to pay any tariffs we impose on them.
North Sentinel's undefeated so far!

By 'reached out' do they mean 'called and asked what's wrong with us and what we think we're doing?'

Our trading “partners” don’t give 2 sh**s about us. US taxpayers are simply welfare providers as far as they’re concerned. They don’t care if our economy reaches critical measures. They have a lot in common with the element that thinks of income taxes as a method of wealth redistribution and a way of penalizing the rich. Envy is what drives them.

I am all for severance of all trade with the CCP..might as well get to work. Short term pain for long term gain. Days of 500B trade deficits are over. Absoluteky stupid how we funded their rise and war machine. Be like massive trading with the USSR.
Basically, Trump seems to be alienating China in global trade. They are strictly an export economy, so that'd destroy them.

China is also bullying its surrounding neighbors in the China Sea, and from what I've heard that China Sea is the most likely powder keg to kick off WW3. So, economically crippling China may be very needed for global peace.

Vietnam already in board..best that SK, Japan, Philippines, and Australia get cracking.
I see the EU saying they want a deal with China, which is complete insanity..but hey go for it. Their industries are already deeply hampered by Net Zero. All because Trump and Vance call them out on the truth.
