It's a good thing and should have happened years ago. The federal banking ban on all things marijuana hasn't prevented dispensaries or growers from opening in States where it is legal but has made them into a cash heavy industry which leads to tax fraud and all sorts of shady financial networks.

However, every time I hear about the federal banking ban I think of this story. You thought Lorena Bobbitt was bad? Warning it's one of the most disturbing stories you will ever read and happened because the dispensary owner couldn't use a bank for his business.

The NIH food story is concerning but I would hope he would have more patience if the work is what's important.

The measles is really a non issue. The cases in TX are largely from a group that wouldn't get the vax anyways.

If I'd spent 20+ years working for the NIH on food safety, and then had my boss tell me that my professional opinions needed to be aligned with RFK's beliefs, I don't think I'd risk tainting that legacy of work by compromising myself for political appeasement.

There is such an inherent internal contradiction in the administration/RFK's approach to food safety and overall food health. On the one hand, they say they want to reduce additives, coloring, and the like, to make food healthy. On the other, they are actively censoring or firing the very people who can speak with authority in support of those goals, simply because they otherwise don't fill the MAGA mold. Makes no sense.

I think when other countries have implemented payouts to try to encourage childbirth, it just made people have their children earlier without actually increasing the birth rate.
