Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Excellent info. Thanks so much for your insight. We are going to start getting videos ourselves, contacting some coaches, and doing some camps this summer to get started. I want to try to pick the coaches’ brains and then maybe go from there. In the end, I get the sense it’s all about personal relationships whether you started on NCSA, YouTube, or via email.
Only thing I can say is don't trust the coaches to do anything to get your kid recruited. You basically have to do it all yourself. . .

I know a guy. . . his kid played volleyball and he's been through the recruiting process. . . he can help (for a small fee of course), we call him "Big Nic" around these parts, 😂

I wish I could find the positivity some of you seem to have. I just don't have it. I see a trainwreck, and I'm praying for survivors. I hope this new QB works out, but I have major doubts.
You are looking in the mirror again. Look away @Weezer! Look away!

My daughter went through the recruitment process. I found that the NCSA was not worth the overall cost. We competed in true showcase events(there are a lot of fake events). We went to recruit camps at individual schools. Videos are extremely important and reaching out to schools, personally. The school that ended up signing her invited her as an afterthought with another girl that they were recruiting heavily. My daughter dominated her in individual workouts and she was offered on the spot. It helped that the drills they ran were the same ones that we practiced every day. Good luck!

I trust that this whole thing has lit a fire under Heupel. I can't imagine anyone wants Aguilar to light it up more.

Don't be fooled, there are a lot of QB's he could've gotten for $1.2 and we were apparently willing to go up to around $2.5m+. He liked Aguilar enough to pull the trigger on him.

We all said that if we had just average QB play last year we could've been even better. We would've beaten Arkansas with an avg QB. I think, with his experience, Aguilar can be at least avg and probably a lot better than avg.

I'm 50/50 on the guy. Aguilar only game vs top notch competition at Applachain State last season was Clemson. Stats were 18/41 214 yards passing, 43.9% completion percentage and a 38.7 QBR. Not very good some are going to say what about his other games? Well I don't see a Georgia State or Louisiana Monroe in SEC. Big step up for the young man, hopefully Aguilar can be a game manager and not turn the ball over and score enough points to win. Going to be depending on defense more than ever this upcoming season imo..
When he played Clemson and didn't have a great game, he was playing a much better caliber defense with a much lower caliber offense support system around him. Not a fair comparison IMO. Will he come out and set the world on fire? Maybe and maybe not. Will he cone out and flop bigly? Maybe and maybe not. But I don't think it is fair to use that game as the baseline for how he might do when he has an SEC offense on his side going against and SEC defense on the other side.

I think y’all have made my mind up. We’re probably only gonna be looking at a few select colleges anyway. I think we’re just going to focus on camps at those places to build relationships with coaches. Also, we’re not gonna be traveling that far. I want to be able to see her play and that won’t happen at a college five hours from here.

Here's the difference. Average QBs can be great with heart of even a slightly aged decrepit lion. Nico was made if Candy glass. Jarrett Geronimo was a warrior.

What does your team do, how do they respond down 4 with less than a minute. And you, the QB, leader of the offense choose to duck and run. You could bulldoze the defender and get extra yards. Or run toward the 1st down marker and hope to get it! Whoops! Game over.

Now, how does your team respond if you lower your shoulder and take dudes head off (metaphorically)? It says, no matter how ugly we play, you can ride on my shoulders. I think we win that game. Say what you will about Gaurantanimo but he wills us to a TD in that situation. Well he may fumble but he would risk life and limb trying.

It sucks, because the first "highlight" that pops up on youtube is the Clemson game. It's from ACC highlights, but the title makes it seems like it's really a Aguilar highlight reel.

Correct. No matter the bridge to initial contact, it’s just a matter of getting their attention, and then it’s up to your daughter after that. Be active on X. No negative posts, same for IG and fb. Our model was DM a coach until we get a response or get blocked, lol. Luckily, none blocked him. Well edited film is crucial! You have about 30 seconds to grab a coaches attention with film, they get 100’s daily.

My favorite part.... Big Nic thinks that Tino Sunseri with this experience is going to prepare him better for the NFL.

Imagine saying you want better coaches to prepare your kids for the nfl. So you tell your kids to leave schools where they are being coached by Josh Heupel and Bobby petrino for tino sunseri.

Hey if you need someone to cut highlights from her film let me know. Not sure if the quality of the edits has an impact, but it might.

And just like that, it looks like a rainforest outside. Leaves grew like the Grinch's heart this week.
Best get to mowing. Mrs. Glitch has had to take over the lawn care duties at the House of Glitch since I have to use a walker and the doctor said I can't do yard maintenance. Stoopit doctor.
