'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

If we could land Angeli, Pena (or another difference maker at wideout) and a solid corner I would call the Spring portal a success given the last week . If Angeli can make quick decisions and protect the football I don’t see it as a bad thing . In some of those highlights he showed off better mobility than you’d think he’d have. Obviously most of the competition in some of the highlight reels were against lesser competition when the game was out of hand, but he also didn’t suck, and he played with a lot of poise in a tough situation against a very good Penn State defense .

Which road games, though? Kentucky? Mississippi State? Those are the only other road games we have besides Bama and Florida. Heupel has been pretty much unbeatable at home for everyone not named Georgia the last few years. I mean, literally, which 5-6 of these games are we going to lose even with Merk at QB?
Syracuse in Atlanta
ETSU
Georgia
UAB
@Miss St
Arky
@bama
@kentucky
Oklahoma
NM St
@Florida
Vandy
I was being hypothetical. I don't think we lose any outside of Fla and Alabama on the road. . But who would have thought we would lose to Arkansas last year either. Especially if we're riding with Merk at QB. Who's never started a road game, much less an SEC Rd game.

Where did you hear this? Last I had heard we were rounding 3rd with him. Obviously that doesn't mean anything, but thought we had a shot with him. Looks like Angeli is next up if Altmyer says nope

I believe an insider on TOS said he turned us down. Maybe I’m misremembering though as I’m not active over there

I could see it if it was last year's road slate. Kentucky and Mississippi State were two of the worst teams in the conference last year, though, and at least Kentucky looks to have gotten worse. I think we can win 9 games with Merk as long as he doesn't make critical mistakes that cost us a game. Georgia, Bama, and Florida are the three primary threats IMO. Outside of those three, the only teams I can see as even being toss ups are maybe Oklahoma and Syracuse and even that is a bit of a stretch. I feel like our team, as it is constructed today, would have to suffer an upset loss to not reach 9 wins with our schedule. Now, that certainly doesn't mean it can't happen but we should be favored in all nine of those games. To get to 5 or 6 losses, we would have to suffer multiple nearly catastrophic losses in addition to the big 3.

Absolutely agree. Even the 3 games I have is losing aren't guaranteed. GA and Ala are also breaking new QB's, who knows if Lagway will even play this year. But, until we prove we can with in Tuscalooser, in Gainesville and GA anywhere, I automatically count those 3 as losses. I think Syracuse could be tricky, but not as worrisome with McCord heading to the NFL. If we lose at My or Miss St, we will definitely have much more underlying issues

Not even close to the truth
We are a bubble team between great and bad. Heupel has done a lot for us but the bubble bursts if we go 6-6 this year against a manageable schedule. That would mean a lot of losses to crummy teams.

Heupel may live for another year but recruitment would tank and we would be looking at a new coach.

The QBs we’ve been after have cited the wr’s as problematic. That was also one of Nico’s concerns in the winter, which is one of the contributing factors to him asking for more money
You have no clue what the QB’s are saying and neither does AP at this point. Just regurgitating what you read. Let it play out and don’t worry till we actually play and lose a game.

He would be an idiot to set those expectations, thinking instead that it's questionable at best.
Unlike most of you guys he is a championship caliber person. He’s a winner. Guess you would like the excuse making King Butch back. Bet most of you were crying how the basketball Vols wouldn’t make it out of the first round of the tournament. Losers everywhere.

Joined 9-24 and we won’t be looking for a new coach. You are either a troll or a very pathetic fan.

Did you quote the wrong post or something?

Geez. It's like VN is taking crazy pills.

He threw a pick 6 to seal the loss the Penn State in what was a very winnable game. The Illinois offense didn't do squat in that game.

Edit: Sorry. That was Altmeyer. The guy that most of the posters on Volnation really want. Angeli only played like one possession against Penn State in the CFP.

This is ridiculous.

It's nice to know that we have a Volnation poster that is "in the room" as these discussions have occurred. So, fill us in on all the details.

Maybe re read the reply there and cool off man. I said he would live for another year but 6 wins is the beginning death spiral. That is a terrible season and would kill recruiting. Few coaches bounce back from 6 wins and end up being natty contenders.

Why does it matter when I joined? I could have joined yesterday and I’m still correct. You joined in 2011 and it looks like you haven’t calmed down since 👌

That's an odd line of thought, though, really.
How would paying him more money improve the WR situation?
If it were me, I would instead have asked that the money to be taken to get one or two good-great WRs out of the portal.

The problem is only you and a few other posters are even suggesting 6-6 as even a remotely feasible possibility. It seems as though you are trying to speak it into existence, then claim Heupel will/should be fired for it.
