'10 WA QB Garrett Grayson

Grayson vs. Bray

Someone please give me pros and cons of both. And will be better suited to play for UT. Thanks.

Grayson vs. Bray

Only thing bad about Bray is his weight and 40/vertical. Has good height, deadly accuracy, and a good arm. Beat out everyone except Heaps in the Elite 11. Would probably need a red-shirt to be ready to play.

Grayson lacks a little on arm strength. Has good 40, and is a good athlete. Has A LOT of upside but might be a risk in taking him.

IMO Bray is the better option.

Bray would not see the field until his second year anyway. Doesn't really matter if he redshirts. Other than saving a year for later.

I think our long term QB, comes from next years class. Short of us pulling someone that is a lot better than they are projected. And at this point, it looks like a big gap between this years class, and next years class. (as far as QBs)

Bray became deadly accurate as soon as we offered. However, he has not been the most accurate at the camps he attended, although he is accurate.

For example, in the camp he attended with Grayson. Grayson was judged more accurate. In the most recent one Chandler Whitmore was judged most accurate over Bray.

There is some koolaid drinking going on here since we offered him.

He has two advantages over Grayson height and a star. There is nothing else. In any competition based on skills and athletics he will lose 10 out of 10 times.

But maybe it is me drinking the koolaid.

Grayson = smarter, far superior athlete, more accurate, arm strength is probably equal. Although, I would like to see Grayson and Bray throwing deep routes in the camp to see myself.

People have decided with a S&C Bray will blow up. This is not a sure bet and depends on his dedication and genetics.

However, on VN Bray is the man right now. And honestly if he commits to us I will hold my tongue until we see him in action in 2011. He is a VOL at that point. My opinion right now is he will never see the field here and can only hope he brings recruits if he commits.

Bray

Pros
Height/Frame
Vision
Accuracy
Decision Making

Cons
Arm Strength (For now. Right now its not amazing, but it could blow up if he gets bigger)

His athleticism isn't nearly as bad as you guys make it out to be. Dude plays basketball and is pretty good at it. If you aren't at least somewhat athletic you won't do that.

Grayson

Pros
Athleticism
Accuracy

Cons
Arm Strength (Alright, nothing great)

Bray would be a much better fit for our system and is much more of the prototypical dropback passer.

Yet Bray still won second MVP at the elite 11 and took home the golden gun (if thats the correct name) which is an accuracy award. Also Bray has an offer, Grayson does not.

True,

I do know though that if a S&C could make a OK or Bad athlete a great one then there would be no need to recruit top players. The whole Bray analysis right now is fantasy land if you ask me. Kid does not excite me. It does excite me if other recruits have bought into his hype. We need those OL and WR recruits. And in 2011 Bray will be an after thought and waisted scholly at that point. I would say pretty strong chance he has tranferred out if he comes here by 2012. Grayson has a chance if he develops to compete with whoever we get in 2011. He has the athletic and cognitive abilities. He already throws a truly deadly accurate ball. He just needs to learn how to play in pro-style and at a higher game speed. The Ds he plays are pretty bad and slow.

every talent evaluator and even our coaching staff disagrees with you.

that should tell you something.

Grayson has a 4.0 and 30 on ACT. He is more accurate then Bray so why is he not worthy of your QB standing?

your basing this statement on one individual camp performance is just ignorant.

Actually the ones who watched them compete together agreed with me but hey who is arguing? I mean Grayson is a 3 star now. He has not been in CA. He has had a fraction of the attention and scouting. And when he has had it nothing but two thumbs up. So other then guys on here no one really thinks Grayson is not a good prospect. They do think he plays against very weak competition. His main issue is Spread type schools want him and he wants to be in a pro style.

This.

Bray won the overall Golden Gun award at the Elite 11. Bray was dubbed the QB with the most upside by all of the counselors (QB Coaches, past and present QBs, ..etc)
Bray was dubbed the 2nd best overall player there behind Jake Heaps.

Grayson wasn't even invited.

Our own coaches disagree with you. They put more faith in a camp then you do. The reason they are offering Bray is because of a camp lol. Who is ignorant now?

Bray was a sub he was not an original Eilite 11. Grayson won that same award when they camped together. Bray was the only one there with something to prove. I bet those other QBs were really focused since they are already at there school of choice.

And there are guys ranked lower then Grayson who have offeres are they better?

Jewbaccah, how can you possibly know which kid is "smarter" than the other? Grayson may have bee more accurate on that day against Bray.....but Bray did it two days in a row, at the most pressure packed camp of the year....against the best of the best. If nothing else, with what we know, their accuracy skills are a wash.....the experts at the camp said Bray had the most upside of ANY QB recruit this year. That means something. I honestly want BOTH of these kids.....but I am not gonna pretend I know enough about evaluating QB skills to say that one is "clearly" better than the other.

Wanna show me where Bray was a sub? Because they had 12 QBs there. I'm pretty sure they didn't need any subs.

And oh I'm sure no one else was competing out there. No, they're all where they wanna be. More like the competition was even more intense because these are the 12 best guys in the country.

And ok, Grayson won the award. Maybe he had a good day. Obviously he isn't as great as you're making him out to be, or he would have an offer, would have went to the Elite 11 camp, something.
