'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Get a guy that’s average height, average arm , average athleticism that can read a D pre snap, see the whole field post snap and can throw on target.

I know it’s completely opposite of Heupel’s taking 6’7” good athletes with cannon arms
And try to make them into complete QB’s

But it would be an improvement.

The problem wasn't that Nico left, it's how he did it. Sure we would have been mad either way, but the way he did it burned every single bridge he made here.

If he plays out practice and spring game and then goes to the coaches with "Hey, I think my market is higher. If you don't think so, that is fine, but I will test the waters in the Portal. I would like to keep communication open and I'm still willing to come back to negotiating table with you guys."

He did set the bridges on fire and blow them up on his way out!

I think it would be of poor character for TN to turnaround and take another teams QB1 who would only be leaving their current team for a payday. Let's roll with the guys on the roster. Take a back up in the portal.
Can't risk it, a six win season has you losing your better players next year and likely causes you to lose your QB prospect for next year.

This is the business of college football, if Heuple doesn't get his QB we're starting over with another new coach after 26 season

That is beyond stupid.

No offense but this is not a smart take.

Heupel’s actions should tell you what he thinks about the QBs on his roster. Would we scouring the country for a plus starter if we already had one on the roster? No.

Heupel had the opportunity to say he thinks Merk or George will be an elite QB here, and he’s riding with his guys. But he didn’t say that. If he did, we’d probably be looking into the FCS ranks for a depth piece. Instead we’re looking to overpay for a major college starter. That should tell you Heupel doesn’t think these guys are ready.
Just last week Merck and Mac were comfortable going into the season not being a starter, It was Nico’s job.

If we’re talking Nico money, it better be a home run.

We could pay a premium because we’re desperate. It may cost us as much or more than Nico to secure a serviceable QB that has a ceiling of 9-3. We’re in a tough spot but if we don’t make any moves, play our inexperienced QBs, and win about 7 games fans will be pissed.

What does this mean? Is that a good sign?
I would guess trying to prevent the tampering look. Remember, the NCAA continues to look for ways to make an example of anything involving Tennessee athletics because we nailed them to the wall in court. Doesn’t matter that so many other players enter the portal and commit less than an hour after they enter or rumors of others committing to places when they haven’t even entered yet. No tampering there, but they will nail us to the wall if we have someone commit to us Within 24 hours of the portal opening.

This year we had Nico, Merk & Mac. Next year we have Merk, Mac & Faizon. If Nico stayed, he played at least 90% with Merk gettting blow out time. I dont think Merk is ready this year. Will he or Mac get enough reps to be ready next year? I dont think we can count on Faizon to start next year. I dont have a solution. We all want to win NOW. Glad i am not the coaches. At some point we have to play our younger players to get the experience to get better. I think we should get a good senior QB for 1 year and then also make a conserted effort to play our younger QBs quicker in games.
