Recruiting Football Talk VIII

As of now viable QB transfer names mentioned include:

Luke Altmyer - Illinois
Avery Johnson - Kansas St
Sawyer Robinson - Baylor
Rocco Becht - Iowa St

Avery & Sawyer outperformed Nico on that bottom chart which compare PFF and ESPN. Luke is similar range and Rocco performed lower.

Bumping to make it easier to find QB graph. Wanted to compare new names. Not sure how I feel about Byrum (USF) making the list. He didn't really play last year had a QBR of 52 for the time he did. That is why he is not on this list. Of names mentioned the ones that performed in QBR and PFF best are:
Avery
Robinson
Altmyer

Of the names with the most traction I would say Robinson. Altmyer i like his touch and arm strength, but no one is talking about him anymore. Avery is supposedly a K state kid through and through. He's from KS and would not even give KS the time of day. I don't see him moving, but I like him best.

Based on numbers, butch did well in 2014 and 2015. In respect to numerical rankings and “star gazing”, that was the topic
Butch had one year that his average star ranking was in the top 10(8th) using 247. I wish we could recruit like Clemson did leading up to their national championship. They hit on a few stars and the rest were solid players throughout their depth chart. Clemson had very few misses. Heup has way too many bad evaluations of players.

I had a feeling Nico had a new spot lined up before he left. There was just no way someone could screw that situation up that badly. The no contact makes sense.
They did screw it up that bad. I think they must've got a deal done after Tulane left the table. Probably learned a few hard lessons within a week.

Choices for QB1 position

A. Get a guy out of Portal ( then watch everyone complain about the guy)

Or

B. Give the keys to the car to Merk or GM ( then watch individuals complain about not getting a QB from the Portal)

Or

C. Both
My guess is they’ll bring in a 1 year guy but there will be a competition in the fall
