'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Nowhere near elite. Idk if I’d even consider him a top 20 QB last season.
You definitely would be in the minority on that view. He was 7th overall in QBR, 3rd in passing efficiency, 4th in TDs and 6th in yards while completing 73%. These numbers are in fact elite. By every metric he was a top 10 QB if not top 5. Does not matter how much talent he had, he still had to make the throws and if you watched our game he was placing the ball exactly where it had to be even with good coverage.

Will Howard was dropping dimes all over the field in the playoffs. He was definitely elite
you do realize he transferred because of Johnson right. OSU feel to him for they missed on their top 2 they wanted originally

Whenever you have the best talent around you, those metrics become highly skewed.

I would prefer almost every QB on that list over Will Howard.

lol this might be the dumbest thing I have ever read. I guess Joe Burrow's 2019 season should be ignored because he had two all time great WRs also 😂

You think it’s dumb to claim better talent makes QBs appear better?

Little bit of frustration bubbling over.

Taking a lap.
You’re not wrong. There’s a frustrating lack of urgency to upgrade the roster and coaching staff when opportunities present themselves. I’m not gonna freak out about it, but I also can’t pretend it’s not there.

I think 1 OL and 1 WR will help tremendously.

If we decide to ride Merk and get some guys from the portal to put around him, then I can see us having a 8 win season pretty easily.

If we didn’t hear/see the spring game then everyone would still be riding the Merk train.

The kid has a bad day in a terrible football setting with his life being completely turned around within 24 hours and some people have already given up on him.

Remember, about 90%+ of this board was ready to vote Dormady for heisman after his spring game.
Good point about Merk and the spring game. The timing dumped a ton of pressure on him to ball out and show something. Same for the other kid. Tough situation.

They’ll be doing it a lot in the NFL…great opportunity for the right person.😎
I agree. It is a great opportunity if someone really wants to make a name for themselves, I also understand why some might be hesitant to make the jump.

We might end up looking for a Joe Milton type. By that, meaning someone who has played before but maybe not completely won their job at their school.

There are undoubtedly some Power 5 starting caliber QBs who are barely making 1 million. Some may not even be at 1 million.

I think we just roll with Merk and Gmac at this point. If the short list is done, then we take the money and go for a WR and OL instead. This season is probably a wash.

good freaking night. this staff and their lack of recruiting, is frustrating.
I get the frustration, but realistically how are you going to convince a guy to come in here and take over on short notice in one of the toughest conferences in the country? Money speaks but its asking a lot.

Also, Nico had a ton of leverage but overplayed his hand. A guy coming in to replace him has just as much leverage and could be asking for the moon, knowing the difficulty of our situation and already has a job at their current school to fallback on.

One last point: we haven't even heard of the potential transfer outs yet. We could be seeing more of our guys transfer, knowing that it is easier for a WR, RB, or defensive talent to fit in on another team than a QB. Heupel and Spyre may be putting more focus on keeping who we have at this point.

This system is quite simply STUPID. Players should be earning but shouldn't have unlimited leverage. Its an impossible situation.
