Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Rory had to have hit that off the heel to be that far right with a wedge. He had to be close the hosel and a shank. How do I know? Because I know that feeling of hitting it on the heel with a wedge and it going right but not horribly like a shank.

I think it was his dad being the main one wanting more money. I think Nico knew his dad was negotiating but didn’t know all the details his dad and agent were doing behind the scenes. Something is a little weird/off with that family dynamic. Nico is still to be blamed he’s definitely not innocent. His dad being a dad overvalued his son’s value. Now his son will forever be the poster child of FAFO with cfb NIL.
Plus, now he's destroyed future value. Why would UCLA or anyone else for that matter offer him any amount of NIL. He currently has zero leverage. At this point I'd make him pay me to be on the team.

Question Vols: Do yall believe the whole Nico situation was all about the money or do you think it's deeper than that?
For who? Us or Nico. I don’t think it was just the money for us. If Nico were better than a bucket of potential and 57th in passing we’d have paid up.

I don’t think Nico or his dad really wanted a breakup to happen. They just wanted more money than we were willing to pay and the behind the scenes games they played even before skipping practice were enough that UT had had enough of them. If you listen to Trey Wallace he emphasizes that it wasn’t just football that was ready to be done with him. He also dropped that several players were upset enough that they had to be calmed down when he didn’t show for practice. He also mentioned that Nico really is a great kid. The villain here is dad, imo. I think Nico does what he’s told and dad simply thought he was smarter than he was.
