Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Right and wrong way to handle things. He got his bite at the apple during the offseason to review market. He just realized he didnt have the leverage to hold the program hostage the day before the Spring Game....

Potentially a very poor long term financial decision from his family...
Right and wrong way to handle is a judgement call. And difficult for us to be in a position to judge bc we don't know all the deets.
Could hurt long-term. Could help. Could be a push.

While we dont know all the deets, the dad and uncle repeatedly lying isnt the right way ....

Nico is an adult and he has allowed those two to represent, communicate, and negotiate his interests....
This is assumptive. He might use them as his proxies. But neither of us know that. Your family step in line with your wishes when you became an adult?
Dad and Uncle were vocal on Twitter. We don't know if that was nico or them.

Buc-ees!

edit I forgot that I grew up one county north of Murray.... no buc-ees for you

Nope but Weigel's has discovered Chattanooga. I've only filled up at a Weigel's once - in Knoxville a few years ago. What I remember and really miss is the little drive up building just around the corner from the Southerland Ave married student apartments. You drove up on the way home and traded a little cash for eggs, milk, etc. I'd love to have those places back. If you have to walk in to get stuff, might as well go to a real grocery.

I am bugging the Weigels X account for a store.... but it just replies it is just a gas station.

Glad youre back on more AM64. Missed your insights etc. I know your family situation dictates your free/VN time too. God bless you and yours bud. I agree with Star...anybody who is a regular here likely sees you in that light as well. Not an old Hippie.

Thanks. Sometimes I think I fall in an undefinable category. Politically and on other things I generally agree with most people here, but sometimes I find myself siding with the other side. That is probably a difference in "values" for lack of a better word for generational beliefs that we pick up. For the record, I think the boomer generation is way too broad; there's just no way that early and later boomers will view things the same especially with events like Vietnam happening in the middle. Stepping on dangerous territory, I support our effort in Ukraine because I see that as supporting the independence of others - something we fought for ourselves. There are always the charges of corruption, etc, but those people are fighting for independence against huge odds - that means something to me personally.

I got the text this morning from the wife at her dad's house. The I need, I want, I gotta have; I am shocked it didn't come sooner, so my days of planning my day are coming to an end. Fortunately all I have left that is really a deadline thing is taxes which I'll finish today and a cardiologist appointment mid week. She says come get her after that, but I'm betting it changes to before. We'll see. I knew she couldn't take care of herself much less her dad, but there was no way to let them both figure it out without letting it run the course. I guess it falls in the tough love type category, but it still hurts to do something that you know isn't really the thing to do.

Of course, I would. I owe it to my family, who i love more than UT, to maximize my earnings.

There is the other side. You make a contract; you honor it; end of story. Nico got a very generous contract, and TN took a real gamble in the courts to back it up. You have to honor that - period. Maybe that view is part of the generational thing I mentioned in the reply to Marcus, but I feel very strongly about agreements and following through. Apparently from several articles I've read, TN scored a lot of points today by not backing down. Those points won't win games, but they do make up for some of the respect that TN has lost in the past few years.

Bye Nico, best of luck. Hope the Vols get a chance to face you this season and stomp that azz!

I still remember a post I made some time ago maybe even during Nico's recruitment; I meant it as a joke, but it was about his name looking a lot like "I am a leava (leaver)". Funny but concerning even before the portal went into overdrive.
