I’m not gonna say anything negative towards Nico. If his dad is in his ear, this kid is in an impossible spot. “Be there for your team.” Or “provide for your family”. Whoever it is that’s whispering nonsense in his ear, it’s just tanking Nico’s future in this sport. Nico has all the potential in the world, from reports in practice it seemed like he was confident and taking a next step. So to suddenly hit pause on that is a horrendous thing to do. This is not the time you pull a stunt like this. I honestly feel kinda bad for Nico, sure he’s technically an adult and could do what he wants but to potentially having a family member in your ear, has to be tough. The guy can’t just focus on ball.

I agree that Nico has had a deal in place with another team for a while.

But he ultimately doesn’t want to go and has been leveraging the deal at UT. He wanted to stay.

But this last round pissed off UT and they said no. His camp pushed in all the chips and now it’s blown up in their faces.

His people are mostly to blame. He could have shut it down though.

That would explain the part about the administration and players being frustrated with him. He's going to have an uphill battle to win the locker room back at this point if he does stay.

The problem is what it does to the future of other players and the program. It's obvious Nico isnt considering other's future well being. It's obvious it's all about him. Terrible look for a "leader".

Initially I was hoping they would work things out. But after learning that his family was “shopping” his services around for the highest bidder, I’d rather he leave. Just terrible for team morale. How do you listen to a guy who isn’t truly bought in with his team? I wouldn’t take him seriously ever again. Just my personal feelings on it

Totally fair, I trying to stay optimistic about the whole thing. Him skipping practice placed a deep line in the sand. Can't fault the staff for holding their ground.
