Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Those thinking we can be hostage to Nico and afford our roster after are incorrect.
Agree. And no one but Nico has anyone to blame but himself. Cant argue no one to throw too, then ask for more money. Esp when you are highest paid.

That's why i'm cautioning next year. Would be a transition year, in my mind.

You have to be able to pay your supporting arhletes.

I don’t care if he leaves or stays.

It sucks that we didn’t get Merk more reps, but oh well, I personally don’t think we were hitting 10 wins this season anyways.

I’m not gonna support giving more money to a kid that gave us JG like results in a much more dynamic offense. Sampson and defense was the reason we played so well last year.

Let the kid leave. Get Merk ready for game 1. Take all the Nil this kid tied us for and give it to some portal guys.
Totally agree. I normally advocate for the middle road, but as a contributor to NIL. Eff em. If you can't sign a contract in the winter or repeatedly want to re-up despite nothing new to justify - 💋 it man.

Im not sure the contract negotiations should come as this big a surprise as it is.

many said it would happen. and with schools about to take over disbursements. this makes more sense.

doesnt make it right, ethically. he aint breaking any rules.

Cut him loose. I think Nico is a good kid and most of this is coming from his people, but this isn’t worth the headache. Even if this is smoothed over, what happens when this bubbles back up mid season? How does him missing practice and negotiations being public affect the rest of the team? Disaster waiting to happen.

He’s talented but hasn’t shown to be elite. I doubt we’re winning anything of significance with him this year anyway. How many more wins is he worth than Merk? Not saying Nico isn’t better but I don’t know if it’s that many. I bet the staff is quietly ready to move on.

He’s driving around in a dang near 200 thousand dollar car and complaining about the amount of money he is making after losing every big road game he played in. Win at Arkansas and then holler about more money.

He can’t hit a deep ball, can’t make quick decisions, and doesn’t have the leadership qualities you need in a QB.

I’m venting at this point, but this is NOT professional sports. Binding contracts where the player loses money if they pull a stunt like this are necessary!
