I think the issue at Maryland was depth.

True they didn’t have any depth but their top 2 bigs were about as good as anybody’s.

Not Necessarily.. Maryland also had a really good front court. Better than ours is shaping up to be. Need to land Ament to be in the top 10 conversation imo.

I don't think the football staff has the eval skills at several positions. Development is also questionable at several spots.

Yet some how the football team finished basically in the same spot as basketball. Get real people.

Well for him at UF playing time will be a issue, travel for his family can be rough because I think he is one of seven.

I still think we have a good chance. Especially if we can work some family travel into the plan.

I was hoping that was the case. It didn’t seem like he was leaving from all that’s been said in this forum. I just wanted to see if something had changed. I’ve been excited about Estrella since he committed. Hoping he can get fully healthy and we can see him play a big role

This. Tubby was a very good recruiter. If he's pitted against Cal, he'll never measure up, but recruiting wasn't his issue.

He fell off later in his career. His recruiting at Memphis wasn’t good. I don’t know how well he recruited at TT. But his staff really didn’t care to play the recruiting game at Memphis. They would try to develop under the radar guys.

Yea, Tubby obviously did better with what he inherited than what he eventually recruited.

Eh, it was just a bad hire. Tubby was just not recruiting what Memphis needed. Penny really had no bearing until Tubby was struggling again in year two. There was a segment of the fanbase who wanted to give Tubby more time, but the product was not good, and attendance was dreadful.

I don't argue it was an odd and bad hire or that Tubby fell off, but Penny's stuff was going to make sure there wasn't much margin for error. I was shocked Tubby got any major HC job after Minnesota, much less 2 of them.
