The right wing coping is pretty pathetic. I checked my personal Charles Schwab account.. most of my gains are gone....wiped out. I am afraid to even look at my retirement. I'm technically 12 years from retirement. I can't imagine how someone who was set to retire feels. For any MAGAs that's wondering, that's called empathy. Although I have years to hopefully recover my losses, those that were going to retire soon will have to either continue working or be SOL. I hate it for them, they did everything right and boom. I guess they could've been born rich.

My parents retired in '24. they aren't sweating this at all. they are still planning on building a retirement home this year. they aren't what anyone would call rich. just smart with the money they have.

No one very close to retirement should be so exposed where they lose it all. Even after the 08/09 crash the losses were recovered and then some. It's a long investment

I have a hard time saying they did everything right given what their generation has done to this country. You can't honestly think that massive govt with massive spending and massive debt was going to go on forever. They just thought it would go on until their kids and grandkids were the ones crushed. Where the empathy for them?

And there was no financial reason for the stock to run up over $400 a share before the recent correction. Musk cozied up to Trump and got himself in the media spotlight. IMO, investors thought he would parlay that relationship to help his business. Due to his off putting personality in the media, the opposite has happened. When viewing Tesla from only their financials, the stock price has always seemed way too inflated IMO.

Tesla's stock price didn't match the biz numbers at all.

heck Biden's EPA requires a refrigerant which is considered slightly flammable. you are over here complaining about less than 10k in increases, while other changes increases the risk of fire for new builds, as well as adding hundreds of thousands in costs to retrofit existing.

I can tell you from first hand experience the tariffs are not the issue when it comes to new construction. there are other things Trump has done that have far bigger impacts. Labor is going to be jacked up.

My parents retired when each reached 52. They are 88 and 77 now. They never owned a business nor made huge salaries. They spent less than they made and invested the rest. From investments and retirement, they make WAY more annually now than they ever did while working.

When they built their house, it was paid for the day we moved in. I was 11 at the time, am now 54. Always pay cash for cars and has never been in debt for anything.

They aren’t sweating this and didn’t sweat it back in 2008. If ppl are sweating it, they either aren’t looking long-term or they started late and trying to play catch up or simply haven’t invested wisely.

I have empathy for ppl but I also understand that many, many ppl personally make piss poor decisions and then blame everyone else for their failures.

Its not going to be framing, or cladding that are going to jack the costs up imo. especially here in the south. Southern Yellow Pine works almost as well as the import Spruce/Fir we get from Canada. I have yet to have a problem getting SYP approved in commercial construction so I can't imagine it is a problem for single family.
