Well thankfully I don’t wait tables. Pepperjax would suck at that.
My wife owns a restaurant and I truly admire anyone that thrives in that industry. Especially in Knoxville because everyone eats too phkn much and the competition is tough.**** I've been considering picking up a couple of bar shifts here in town while I finish my cybersec stuff. I'm one of those maniacs who enjoys getting my ass kicked behind the stick.

It's got to be a tough industry. Good food is expensive, and the margins have to be tight. I know profits are in alcohol. My wife owns a restaurant and I truly admire anyone that thrives in that industry. Especially in Knoxville because everyone eats too phkn much and the competition is tough.
Example: 1 pound of jumbo lump crab from Costco, maybe 10 bucks of filler (a little higher here due to my wife having Celiac disease), and we had crab cakes all around for $50 last night. It's got to be a tough industry. I love a great meal, but it's gotten to the point that dinner for the family with a couple of glasses of wine pushes the $250-500 range. And that's in Knoxville. I can cook a damn good dinner for a lot less than that.

Great choices for reasonably priced good food. And the owners of the spots you listed are solid.I'm with you. I generally shy away from the fine dining joints here and save nicer outings for when I'm out of town.
However, I love frequenting places that just serve damn good food. Yassin's, Good Golly, Potchke, Che Guevara, Sticky Rice, etc.
Working in the industry as long as I have, I don't really care about being seen, atmosphere, or hospitality.
Though I'll never shy away from popping into Lilou or Brother Wolf so the homies pour me secret service industry shots for 5 bucks.
A person on disability who is unable to work on avg, only get 18k a year.. is a disability thier choice or did they choose to be disabled so they are lazy too? What did you accomplish with that? Nothing. You really are the king of posting nonsense links. Again, if you are making less than $25 grand a year it's either by choice, laziness, or a mental issue.
I believe I would enjoy bar tending. Wanted to do it once upon a time for two reasons: learn mixology/running a bar and thought it would be fun way to meet people. I make friends at a gas pump.**** I've been considering picking up a couple of bar shifts here in town while I finish my cybersec stuff. There are a few places here in Knox where 2 shifts will be 800-1100. No joke.
Owned a frozen yogurt franchise we shutdown during covid. With what that SOB cost me, I figure I ate the most expensive yogurt in the world. My wife owns a restaurant and I truly admire anyone that thrives in that industry. Another convert!!!Simple math. Someone making $25,000/yr is putting 100% of their income toward basic needs. Some making $125,000/years has plenty of play money left over.
So increasing taxes/tariffs on the poor makes a difficult situation worse.
I remember the days when bus boys were... well, bus 'boys' and 'girls'--i.e. generally high school jobs--And the adults generally had real jobs.I truly doubt that. Are you depending on tips to pay your staff?
