I want to know where all the info is coming from suggesting scroggins is trojan. I think personally he will be. but thats just my opinion. That one interview (the last one)I'm telling you guys was done after a camp and he just said something generic about all three teams from off the top of his head. Is all this stuff from credible posters on other sites and such just their opinions as well or do they know something we don't. I think he honestly is trying to keep his recruitment as under the radar as possible (meaning not wanting people to know whats going on.) then announce publicly. Again I still think hes a trojan but thats just my opinion from knowing what it would be like to play at UT even if the qb position was already full. In this case, (please correct me if I'm wrong cause I want to know something new instead of trying to read into words) it seems like everything is just opinions and I don't think anyone knows anything. And if the scroggins calling kiff is true then that would be the first real indication he's a trojan.

Jesse Scroggins
6-3/195, Lakewood (Calif.)

Don't be fooled by his athletic-looking frame; he is a throw-first, run-second guy all the way. When Scroggins rolls out he has a tendency to push the ball just a tad – making for a short delivery and follow-through – but in the pocket he reaches back and lets it fly. He proved to have some of the best touch on day one. His throwing mechanics are similar to Auburn's Tyrik Rollison.

There are only 4-5 people on earth who know where he'll commit tomorrow.

None of those people who know are on this site, nor any of the others (GQ, etc.), so stop looking for them. Or believing them when they present themselves as knowing. If they did know, and happened to be on this site, they sure as h*ll wouldn't post it.

If anyone outside of that very closed circle of people really had it pegged in either direction, one of the notable insiders on this site would have already broken it. As none have definitively done so, the information simply doesn't exist, because it's only known to 4-5 people, tops.

See how cyclical this all is?

For all of the naysayers (undoubtedly many of the same people who leave games early if Tennessee is losing by 7 or more points after halftime):

There isn't a single argument that can be made as to why JS won't sign with UT that couldn't have been made for any one of several players who we just landed in the most recent class. In fact, the odds seemed far longer on some of those players than they do on Scroggins.

Did BB teach you people nothing?!?!

Please also recall:
No one is ever wholly safe from this staff. Ever. No one. Wherever they may live. Whomever else may be chasing / holding them. The phrase, "No one comes off of our board." is a philosophy, and not just the latest catch-phrase.

Forgive my insolent unwillingness to surrender JS just yet, and for my flat refusal to bow to kiss USC's signet ring.

I don't know about all of these other chicken-littles being hatched around here of late, but I'm for Tennessee pulling it out until I see irrefutable proof to the contrary, namely, JS signing an LOI.

Apparently, I am largely alone in holding true to these beliefs, and in maintaining my masculinity.

Sissies, the lot of you.

Even if you think decade isn't reliable, FLvol53 is as reliable as they come and he's guaranteed that Scrogs is a Trojan.

Well, then, "F" FLvol53.

And his horse, too.

In no particular order, but definitely "F" both of them - and anyone else who believes him. And their horses.

Not saying that he isn't going to be a Trojan, but your taking opinions from reliable posters and turning them around trying to justify them as facts. The only people with facts right now are Jesse, his family, and his coach.

You are not alone. I'll leave the 'maintenance of the masculinity' bit for the other non-sissies to address...

I'm with ya, bro!

Haven't heard a fat lady yet.

And my heart/gut keep screaming Orange!

I believe he cited a person at Lakewood close to the coach. Jesse even said that one of the people he told is the coach.

Thanks for the info. But it honestly almost seems like everyone who "knows" something (not saying FLVOL or anyone else doesn't know anything but) is on the basis of: I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy that got a feeling from a guy close to the situation that says ______. Again FlVol may or may not be right but this is just what it seems.

Well, that's three of us.

The rest of you can continue wringing your hands and running in tiny mental circles while waiting on the announcement and the next episode of "Ellen" to come on.

And by all means, please continue trying to secure financing for the group rates you've obviously secured for your epispasm procedure(s).

I understand where you're coming from, and I hope this is some elaborate ploy by Kiffin, but there are no clues to point that way. They have actually played it pretty close to the vest, but there has been too much chatter around USC in the past week or so. I'm trying to do my part to preempt a meltdown.

I hope this whole thing doesn't cause any bad blood between CLK and CPC.

I can't see their friendship ending over a single recruit, no matter who it is, as long as both sides are recruiting fairly and by the rules (by that I mean serious violations, not using a smoke machine or saying a kid's name on the radio or on Twitter).

I don't see Scroggins in orange. I can't make myself see it. The random theories floating around don't jive for one reason or another.

Consider:

1. The Desire to Go Somewhere Else to Play (Away from home)

Here's a quote about his trip to USC (emphasis mine):
My interest in USC is very high, especially because it’s close to home and only 20 minutes up the road. Also USC has a great tradition and everything about USC is awesome.

Here's another (same article):
“Basically, everything was surreal just because it was USC,”

2. The USC Depth Chart Argument

Here's another quote:
“The depth chart doesn’t mean anything to me,” said Scroggins. “I would just come in and compete, if you compete and you’re the best, you’ll be No. 1. That’s basically what you want to do

It sounds like he wants to compete.....and he wouldn't be doing so here, as it would be his job from Day 1. Having a starting job (essentially) handed to you is not as appealing to every player as some might think.

3. He Wanted to Show He Was Good Enough for a USC Offer, But Will Go Somewhere Else

If simply getting an offer was that important to him (which he has now received) wouldn't the next most logical step now seem to be proving himself worthy of it - and not just walk away from it to sign elsewhere?

Simply, can you ever really "prove" yourself worthy of a USC scholarship without actually playing for them?

Is he just trying to prove he's good enough to get an offer - or is he trying to prove that he's good enough to actually play / compete / produce for them?

Which would you be trying to prove? My point exactly.

4. He Didn't Work Out For Us Only Because He Was Injured

I know that he was injured - but of the three schools he camped with, it was only USC who got him to actually work / try out.

Is it even possible that maybe they were the only ones who he really cared to perform for, or hoped to impress? Is it possible, that's all I am asking.

5. The Family in Tennessee Argument

Saying he has "family in Tennessee" sounds nice, until you realize that its in Memphis. And check a map. It's app. 400 miles away.

Would you equally consider his having family in the following cities to be a big factor in his decision?

Cincinnati? Raleigh? St. Louis? Indianapolis? Columbus (OH)? Pittsburgh? Tallahassee?

Well, each of these cities are within a 400 - 450 mile radius of Knoxville.

Sure, there could be some Tennessee allegiances there, but last I checked, there were quite a few people in Memphis who hated us, too. I equate Scroggins comments about having family in Memphis to those similar ones made by BB in relation to K-State.....niceties with little, if any, meaning.

6. The Immediate Playing Time Argument

Would you rather have immediate playing time at a school who is struggling (mightily) to return to former glory...or wait your turn at a perennial powerhouse? What would you advise your son to do?

To be sure, he might go to USC and never start a single game.....but Matt Cassel seems to be doing ok after having suffered a similar fate.

7. Delaying the Announcement

Like many other posters before me have pointed out, unlike USC and UF - who can comfortably wait on an announcement - Tennessee needs Scroggins to commit NOW, as in yesterday in order to jump-start their offensive recruiting efforts. Every day that Tennessee is without a verbal from a top-flight QB, they likely fall a little further behind on the other targeted offensive recruits with schools who are more well-established - and just flat better - at the QB spot. If Scroggins intended to come to Tennessee, and he wanted the best chance to surround himself with offensive firepower, how could delaying the announcement do anything but harm those efforts? A few days after all of the camps were completed? Sure, that's understandable. A few weeks? Something’s likely amiss.

8. The Urban Factor

Rumor has it that CUM and CLK don't care for one another too much. I believe that everyone has talked this year's game to death, and that the consensus is that CUM will hang 1,000 points on CLK if given even the most remote chance to do so.

Here's my question: If you're CUM, what could possibly be any better than that?

Here's the answer: Doing it every single year.

How best to do so?

Take away the one thing that Tennessee must have in order to prevent you from doing so - namely, landing a top-flight QB. With all due respect to the other QB's out there, Scroggins is the last Tier 1 prospect left on the board (worthy of offers from both USC and UF). Without him, CUM could essentially stunt - if not flat cripple - CLK recruiting efforts for ANY offensive talent (you think he's forgotten Nukees and Marsalis?).

It is no stretch to see that keeping Scroggins away from Tennessee would hurt us in many different ways, for many seasons to come. Likely, CUM has stumbled onto this scenario, as well. If he (CUM) loses him, big deal. But if he lands him....or simply muddies the water enough for Tennessee to lose him (i.e. if it's so confusing to you, maybe its best to go to school at USC, some 20 minutes from home?)....it will be a major, major feather in the indian headdress he undoubtedly wears when out visiting gay bars.

Now, with that being said, tell me fellow Vols fans - what do you think that we would do, what would CLK and his staff do - if the role(s) were reversed, and UF needed this guy so badly?

A better question: What wouldn't we do?

Conclusion
Even if he verbally commits to us at the Elite 11 camp - come NSD, he's signing somewhere else, most likely, with USC, IMO.

I have no sources and no links. I have no insider feeding me super-secret information usually reserved for those who are, "in the know". All I know about this kid is what I read on this message board, and a couple of other articles.

I hope like heck that I am wrong, and that we land him - or that one of these other QB's is Superman (that's the real Superman, not Tebow's queer imitation of it) and this will all be a mute point, regardless as to whether he signs or not.

I'd like to know where any sense of optimism springs from, elsewhere, as I am feeling worse about this after having taken the time to semi-articulate the reason(s) for my many and seemingly valid concerns to the contrary.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Whether he verbally commits at the Elite 11, or if he commits elsewhere - come NSD, he's signing somewhere else, most likely, with USC, IMO.

Apparently, a man has a right to change his mind.

Guys,

IMO there is a reason that JS is announcing tomorrow at the beginning of the SEC media days..This has CLK written all over it.

Just relax...looks like a VOL
