In the event that the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game between the USA and Canada ends in a tie at the end of regulation, the game will proceed to sudden-death overtime. Unlike the round-robin games, which featured a 10-minute, 3-on-3 overtime period, the championship game adopts a format similar to the NHL playoffs:
Overtime Periods: 20-minute periods played with full 5-on-5 teams.
Sudden Death: The first team to score during these periods wins the game and is declared the tournament champion.
If no team scores during the first overtime period, additional 20-minute periods will continue until a goal is scored, ensuring the game is decided by gameplay rather than a shootout.
