I think the biggest thing that's different than the last several is there lack of depth.Something definitely feels off about the way Barnes has handled this team during its struggles.
We saw some clear adjustments in the Vanderbilt game that got us back in it. But since then it just feels like we are beating a dead horse and hoping for a good outcome doing the same things the same way.
Barnes forgot more basketball than I'll ever know. And he's said some of the things I know would improve us..... But we aren't implementing them...... There has to be reason, he's not lazy, nor incompetent........ Something's off.
Discussion is kinda useless because this is a truth in your narrative. And do there is nowhere to go from there. These players have shown the ability to make open 3s. I assure you they do it on practice. They have all done it in games. ZZ less so than the others. The fact that they have a bad game or go into a slump does not make that bolded statement true. A player that is a 38% 3pt shooter at the end of the season will have stretches where they shoot well above 38% and other stretches where they shoot well below 38%. No matter what stretch he was in prior to his uncontested 3pt attempt, he better take an uncontested 3pt look. Bottom line. It's the right shot from a mathematical perspective and it is absolutely the right shot from a shooter's psychology perspective.38 uncontested 3's is generous.
It doesn't matter, if they are missing 34 threes....try something different! We just kept running plays to get guys open for 3's they can't hit.
It's just Rick's belief that he should stick with that and doesn't have them ready to do anything else.
You just can't defend taking 45 3's when you are missing them. It's ridiculous lol.
I hope he stopped taking open, uncontested 3's during his slump. That would have been a good time to just start shooting layups.Yikes. Usually, it's a good thing that the other team is taunting you to shoot 3's. Definitely could use Dalton for that. BTW, finally looks like Knecht is starting to hit them again (had a slump).
Ehh not so sure. If he gets a decent QB it won't be great for everyone else. His UW run will carry a lot of weight until there's a few years of underwhelming UA seasons.
People will also say Saban was meh in Y1 too...though he had nowhere near the same talent Deboer's been handed, let's be real.
Tbf though it still was Y1 for him and he runs a different system than Saban. He just needs to get his type of guys in there, then we can really begin to see it all come to fruition...as they go 5-7![]()
