Yep. Started coaching at the hs level when he was 17 though. Make of that what you will. Been coaching at the college level for 10. When you hire someone relatively inexperienced you take a chance of looking like a genius or a fool. Hiring Pope at 29 hasn't looked brilliant to date. Hiring Sean McVay as HC made someone at the Rams look like a genius.

I think we'll be alright when everything shakes out. I still hate this era of college football but it could have been a lot worse for us.


I will miss the old days of learning the names of the players on the team or getting excited for a top high school signee.

Pull for the jersey, not the player.

Mike requested papers tonight about 1030 but it won’t be put in till Monday. I still think there is a strong chance he doesn’t go because Nico is back and I think all that gets worked out. We will see but they have the next couple of days to work that out.

I think the coaches should learn if we are going to recruit and retain top talent-- they should be playing

I’m not in denial about anything because there’s nothing to be in denial about. First it was Boo leaving, then Nico rumors started, and now it’s Matthews when the other two didn’t pan out. And the only reason the actual people in the know (AP, Hubbs, some of the other best writers) are even commenting on it is because fans buying into the message board and social media rumors are blowing up their feeds with questions. So they have to write something.

It’s not being in denial about how CFB is going to be, it’s about accepting reality and knowing that the players who truly matter and understand their roles in the bigger picture (Nico, Boo, Matthews, etc.) aren’t going anywhere and never were.

Edit: I stand corrected on Matthews, but I also still believe he stays and stand by my points on Nico and Boo and the overall reactionary approach several fans take.

Heupel is in trouble. His friends and not developing players has caught up to him. MM should have been playing this year.
