Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Get some burners at wr and we will be fine
Nobody was scared of this years WRs
I will say that all the hype for both Thornton and Brazzel was just that. They both struggled with getting separation. And both dropped catchable passes on a multitude of occasions.

Also, where were our TEs? Did Kitselman even play against osu? What happened to Staes and Davis? They can all catch passes.

I admit that I was confused by the offense.

I would not be surprised at all if Nico sticks to his original NIL deal for his time at UT. We stepped out and made him the highest paid person in the country, before anyone else. Reportedly 4 years, 8M dollars. Thats life changing money for him and his close-knit family if managed responsibly. In Tennessee with no state income taxes ( BIG deal. I live in NC and it sucks). With responsible financial planning Nico and his family should be set up for the future even if he never plays a single snap in the NFL. By all accounts they are good people too and I am happy for the Iamaleava Family.

Do I think a LOT of star QBs are trying to renegotiate their deals now that Duke is reportedly overpaying a ridiculous $4M per year for their QB? Yes I do. Lots of them. I am glad we havent heard anything about our loaded QB room comcerning the portal. We have 3 QBs in there now that are Elite 11 caliber QBs. Probably the best QB room in the country for the next several years with Brandon coming.

Have you not seen what’s been going on?😭🤣 cam carr just left the number one team in the country…they don’t care what has been given to them because they’re under the impression someone out there will pay more…and a lot of teams would take Nico….

Wanna here a kicker to that story?

My wife at the time ended up leaving me for her second cousin. You don’t know hurt until you see your wife bent over your mower with her cousin. I promise you that.

I do not mind sharing the proof of that tho!

Man ngl, Id be furious. Come home after a long day at work. NO ONE messes with that of which is sacrosanct. As a Dad, I took a vow, and I mean to uphold that vow, that as long as I draw breath, I will keep that yard mowed. There are things ya just dont do. Messin' with my shed, and my mower, and we have issues.

Yeah, I’m drunk. Yo @mrMet wanna meet at the waffle house?

I’m joking. You’re a good dude. I understand why you’d call someone out. Keep on keepin’ on.
I mean, he's a dude 😆 have you seen his liquor stash? He's probably lit also.

Real talk, glad you both sthu. 🤟🏻 🫡 Btw, callin' it right now.

Nico leads Orange to victory, against Madden under the lights in Neyland in '25. Two TD's one to Boo 'Chipmunk' Carter, and other to Zechariah White. Runs for other.

That starts the Nico for Heistman campaign in 2026, before he gets drafted in first round to Titans!! Boom!

I can’t hate on squirrel because he made a lot of plays for us. He’s the kind of player that should be a VFL so I hate that he’s leaving.

At the same time, I’m excited about getting someone more dynamic in the slot. The slot should feast in this offense. See Hyatt and Velus. Hopefully Staley brings us some more of that.

Sometimes a cleansing is needed.

When your bio says “I’m just here for the meltdown” followed by “your moms bed” then you drop some b***s**t that you heard from your “donor” friend, you should expect to get scrutinized by other people that have been here for a while lmfao

What a joke

Met…take it from me bro…and my years here check out…..I’ve seen some wild s**t on here which makes this place very special and unique from the the average daily scroller to the guy actually in the know….you just never have any idea who you’re responding to on here…bad info happens all the time which is why anything said on here should be taken with a grain of salt naturally..that doesn’t make that person a liar or a troll….come on

i miss the old days…I miss the legit insiders we had and we had some of the absolute best but we never gave them a fair shake so they reverted back to the shadows amongst us..it was a nice way to bypass 247,scout and rivals expensive ass monthly fees for insiders like Callahan and Hubbs giving you just enough to make you feel like your money is actually paying for insider info…

Not to mention they watch our page closely and certain posters who they know have insider credibility info.in return allows them to run back to their site dropping the same info they’ve withheld for weeks from their subscribers.trying to get ahead of the news for clout of “I broke it first” so they're not labeled as complete frauds….its all a monopoly @mrMet go easy on the folks and let it happen organically.this is a special place trust me.

It’s truly unbelievable how pedestrian we looked this year. Especially compared to this.
That’s the main thing people are talking about. It’s not depth, talent gap, NIL, it’s play calling and the use of what seems like the same 12-15 plays.

You can overcome talent gaps with scheme a lot of times. But for some reason this year and last, play calling has been a huge question mark.

Going to have to get back to doing what CH does best and that’s finds mismatch’s.

Seems like everyone wasn’t on the same page this year and last and that could be attributed to not having the right personnel, but that ultimately falls on the coaches to find that chemistry. If you don’t have the talent in certain groups you can overcome some of those deficiencies with schemes.

Honestly I don’t know what the problem has been the last two years. Did we have more talent in ‘22 compared to ‘23/24? Some will say NO, some will say yes.

Is that attributable to lack of development?

Regardless of what everyone’s response is or opinions we have still won a lot of games.

Anyways, this is my current situation. Y’all enjoy your weekend. I’m gonna try and do the same. IMG_0531.jpeg

It was tough to watch at times and it is hard to tell on TV if it’s the receivers getting open or if it’s the QB processing and making the right read. Probably a combination of both but I’m not sure. I do know that defensive coordinators in the SEC are pretty good at figuring things out and there is a book out there on how to slow our offense down if you have the talent at DB. Too be fair that’s the case with any offense. Nico just finished his Second Year at Tennessee and his first as a full time starter. He clearly has elite arm talent but that’s not the most important part of being an elite quarterback. I definitely agree with you Doc that he is closer to Milton than Hooker. Milton is on a NFL roster so that’s pretty good. The jury is still out on if he can rise to the level of Hooker but let’s face it, very few ever do. Hooker live was something to see in relation to quick reads and accuracy.

UT - 3
Texas A&M - 0

The 7-3 Vols played Texas A&M in the Gator Bowl, which was Bear Bryant’s last game as Aggie coach. On a rain soaked field, yards were at a premium. Bobby Gordon led the Vols with 60 yrds on 32 carries and 56 yrds passing, out performing A&M star John David Crow in the process. A collision between the two knocked Gordon out for a second, forcing him to be helped to his feet by Landon Darty. Gordon stayed in the game and held for the 17 yard field goal, made by Sammy Burklow, that gave Tennessee a 3-0 victory. It was Burklow’s only field goal attempt of the season!

On a side note, Burklow would go on to medical school in Dallas and was an intern at Parkland Hospital in 1963. He was in the emergency room when President Kennedy was rushed into the hospital.
