How to rename my towns renamed high school?

Personally, I think as long as any symbols or caricatures related to the Confederacy are gone, the Rebels is a fine name. Maybe be the Franklin Fighting Rebels (similar to UNLV)
I appreciate this answer as well, we went from a radical proposition (reinstating) to compromise. A big lesson in talking about "radical" topics leads to civilized solutions. Imagine if America talked through everything else.

I guess I can see why a school named the "Rebels," in a state which joined the confederacy, might seem to some like it's in some way honoring or even celebrating the confederacy, and that black students or towns people would be offended by that.

The Admirals doesn't seem to celebrate anything which was so wrong, and designed to perpetuate slavery, as was the confederacy.

uhh, I dont really care what you think. What matters is what the people of Franklin, TN think.

As to OP,
1. first find out who exactly has the power to change the name. Is it the school board, the mayor's office, the county executive, etc. Otherwise you are wasting your energy.
2. THEN get feedback from the community as to what the real desire is. Even without money you can go around outside a few shopping centers or grocery stores with a clipboard and ask in an informal poll.
3. Use this and any local conservative groups to get enough funds together to have a more legitimate poll conducted.
4. If results support, then make the person/people's life a living hell until they change it back. Demonstrations, calling, have people mail them letters, any local news, anything you can bring up the issue.
5. Meanwhile target that person or key people in that group for their next election. If appointed person target the elected above them. Get voters to contact them night and day. Have the opposing candidate (better if you can get their primary opponent as well as the general) to make this an issue where outsiders (cursed yankee scum) have come to steal Franklin's rich heritage, etc.

Because Franklin is such a rich area, the one thing that will move things more than anything else is for them to be exposed and embarassed in front of others. If you can somehow make them a pariah with the other elites there, that will be key. Not easy since the simp elites have bought into the woke idiocy.

That will give you a good start.

This is the post I've been looking for. I'm saving this to my notes when the conditions are ripe for harvest. We seem to share the spirit of our forefathers that has been silenced, through wars, eliminating the warrior, decadence, eliminating the soul, reconstruction, eliminating the spirit-- God bless you, we fight on,

If this results in Franklin1776, from the bottom up lie power of man, life would be a dream. Hopefully all towns can take back tradition from the grips of desolation.

Do you think a Town Hall speech would be the first step? I'm not sure if it is smart to just get signatures without some formal initiating process. Maybe if I let them know I'll get 2500 signatures that are REAL unlike that girl, the citizens can vote to decide?

Yes, you should do that. Please post the video here. You could play When Johnny Comes Marching Home in the background.

I might do that. I'm going to bring one of my black friends 🤣

Here's me taking a picture in downtown Franklin (church next to starbucks) with my KKK white supremacist friend proudly holding up the KKK flag after mudding in 2010. There was about 6 obvious KKK members in our group who loved flying that flag. We grew up together fishing and hunting lol. Hell they'd bring the flag whenever I said we'd go MUDDN, but i mean they were obviously racist Hitler white supremacists supporting slavery.

And all I want is to make the high school the rebels again.

On a side note. I think WOKE liberal men never have had a black friend before, especially lawgator1s punchable ass.

Lol so is it a big deal, or is it not a big deal?

Seriously, the world has much bigger problems than the names of high schools or sports teams.

Or does it depend on who’s making it a deal?

Depends on the context and what it's compared to. The OP is obviously less concerned about the name of a mascot on a yearbook than he is the fact that his ancestors' fight to maintain slavery failed.

I've got no problem remembering and a family honoring the past ... for their family. But you can't be surprised that a lot of people in the here and now aren't okay with having that presented to them at every turn.

Right? I just want the high school to be the high school and I'm sure when this movement gets momentum people will go bonkers over it. What do you mean I moved to a southern Confederate historical town and not a corporate meeting hub for Nissan

This is how life was just 15 years ago here. And we all got along WAY BETTER as the REBELS

In WV my group looked like a United Nation's summit meeting. We liked the flag there too lol. It's not until i get near gated communities with 0 black people that I hear I'm racist for having a majority of my friends be southern people of all creeds because we vote for Jesus and go to church with 40 skin hues.

I think my grandfather had the last private working farm in Franklin unless you count that road with the McKenzies Angus cows. I digress. I'm bringing the town back to how it was: white and black together not even knowing what the **** that means vs California white people whove never seen a non asian minority segregating themselves in gated mansions and talking about how they are less racist than other segregationist Vermont whites who think the Irish person in town means diversity
That's a cool participation ribbon

so are you--

Central Michigan Chippewas, Named after the Chippewa tribe

William & Mary "tribe"

University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns

University of Oklahoma Sooners – Named after settlers who participated in the Oklahoma Land Rush, which displaced Native tribes

Texas Tech Red Raiders initially included Mexican references

University of Massachusetts Minutemen/Minutewomen – colonialism.

University of Vermont Catamounts – Vermont’s "Green Mountain Boys," some of whom participated in colonial conflicts against indigenous groups.

Yale University Elis – Derived from Elihu Yale, a controversial figure involved in the East India Company, which has raised questions about colonial history and exploitation.

East Carolina Pirates – Reflects the region's history with piracy, but some argue it romanticizes a violent history that affected indigenous and Caribbean cultures.

Vanderbilt Commodores – Named after Cornelius whose wealth was built on exploitative practices.

University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Embraces Irish heritage, but some see the term and leprechaun imagery as a caricature of Irish stereotypes.

University of North Carolina Tar Heels – Named after laborers in North Carolina’s tar and pitch industries, some of whom were enslaved, leading to questions about historical ties.

Got it.

So it is a big deal if you deem it a big deal, and not a big deal if others do so.

Figured as much.

Yep, and when they rename the volunteers, which they will-- for being a racist name about volunteering to kill Mexicans, then I'll fully understand when Davy Crockett, after trying for years to ignite the inner revolutionary spirit of Tennesseeans-- mainly the same descendents of Irish tavern trolls we see here, said to them, "yall may all go to hell, I'm going to Texas", to do some Tennessee chit. And then they will ban ole Davy for going to volunteer in Texas. How history repeats itself. I'm just going to do this on my own.

You'll see in 50 years kids trolling legacy "volunteers" fans, renamed the Tennessee Tornados, calling them racist and joining forces to piss you off, and i hope it happens to all of you. Kiss my ass, especially Lawgator1
