How to rename my towns renamed high school?

I appreciate this answer as well, we went from a radical proposition (reinstating) to compromise. A big lesson in talking about "radical" topics leads to civilized solutions. Imagine if America talked through everything else.

uhh, I dont really care what you think. What matters is what the people of Franklin, TN think.

As to OP,
1. first find out who exactly has the power to change the name. Is it the school board, the mayor's office, the county executive, etc. Otherwise you are wasting your energy.
2. THEN get feedback from the community as to what the real desire is. Even without money you can go around outside a few shopping centers or grocery stores with a clipboard and ask in an informal poll.
3. Use this and any local conservative groups to get enough funds together to have a more legitimate poll conducted.
4. If results support, then make the person/people's life a living hell until they change it back. Demonstrations, calling, have people mail them letters, any local news, anything you can bring up the issue.
5. Meanwhile target that person or key people in that group for their next election. If appointed person target the elected above them. Get voters to contact them night and day. Have the opposing candidate (better if you can get their primary opponent as well as the general) to make this an issue where outsiders (cursed yankee scum) have come to steal Franklin's rich heritage, etc.

Because Franklin is such a rich area, the one thing that will move things more than anything else is for them to be exposed and embarassed in front of others. If you can somehow make them a pariah with the other elites there, that will be key. Not easy since the simp elites have bought into the woke idiocy.

That will give you a good start.

This is the post I've been looking for. I'm saving this to my notes when the conditions are ripe for harvest. I might do that. I'm going to bring one of my black friends 🤣

Here's me taking a picture in downtown Franklin (church next to starbucks) with my KKK white supremacist friend proudly holding up the KKK flag after mudding in 2010. There was about 6 obvious KKK members in our group who loved flying that flag. We grew up together fishing and hunting lol. Hell they'd bring the flag whenever I said we'd go MUDDN, but i mean they were obviously racist Hitler white supremacists supporting slavery.

Depends on the context and what it's compared to. The OP is obviously less concerned about the name of a mascot on a yearbook than he is the fact that his ancestors' fight to maintain slavery failed.

I've got no problem remembering and a family honoring the past ... for their family. But you can't be surprised that a lot of people in the here and now aren't okay with having that presented to them at every turn.

Right? I just want the high school to be the high school and I'm sure when this movement gets momentum people will go bonkers over it. What do you mean I moved to a southern Confederate historical town and not a corporate meeting hub for Nissan

This is how life was just 15 years ago here. And we all got along WAY BETTER as the REBELS

I think my grandfather had the last private working farm in Franklin unless you count that road with the McKenzies Angus cows. I digress. I'm bringing the town back to how it was: white and black together not even knowing what the **** that means vs California white people whove never seen a non asian minority segregating themselves in gated mansions and talking about how they are less racist than other segregationist Vermont whites who think the Irish person in town means diversity

Yep, and when they rename the volunteers, which they will-- for being a racist name about volunteering to kill Mexicans, then I'll fully understand when Davy Crockett, after trying for years to ignite the inner revolutionary spirit of Tennesseeans-- mainly the same descendents of Irish tavern trolls we see here, said to them, "yall may all go to hell, I'm going to Texas", to do some Tennessee chit. And then they will ban ole Davy for going to volunteer in Texas. How history repeats itself. I'm just going to do this on my own.
