Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Wasn't Dan Lanning the DC at Georgia before taking Oregon job?
In all fairness. Oregon wasnt exactly suffering before he took job. I mean Chip Whatshisface did well there, even Mario Cristobal won there. Its easy to win when you play NO ONE (except OSU) who plays no one.

Hence why every year, on the nose they get to playoffs, then get exposed.

Okay here we go with the SEC spill. Have a good day.

Just pay them. Taking a HC job that isn’t in the big boy leagues is career malpractice. All your really good players will eventually leave to go to the SEC/Big 10 to get a bag, while playing at the highest level.

Check out how Golesh is doing at USF. You don’t get a big boy job when you’re 3-4 there.

Are you under the impression every G5 team is 3-4 right now?

USF was a combined 4-29 in the 3 seasons before Golesh. He went 7-6 last year. He’s not on the hot seat.

I get your point, but I think it depends on the school. You automatically turned down some opportunities, but some G5 schools are good opportunities. If you aren’t careful, that P4 opportunity may not come either.
Shoot, at this rate a G5 opportunity might turn into a P4/5 opportunity with expansion.

We need to keep Banks however possible. If we can't, we need to promote Chop in some way, shape, or form. Maybe promote Inge to DC and Chop to LB coach.
We need to match whatever a "group of" school is gonna pay him, give him some nice bonuses and a Ford F150 & Dollywood passes with tickets to @InVOLuntary 's bbq. Need to convince him he will get a premiere P4 job if he stays just a couple more years.

It's a big risk to chase your dreams into a small group school and fail. At least at a P4, if you fail, you can get generational money through the buyout and you get to jump the "climbing the ladder" process from G5 to P4. . . which would take an additional 3-6 years.

Point is, if he stays here another year or two and continues to succeed, he'll cut years off the climb to a premiere P4 job, make the same $ in the process, and have a better shot to succeed when he does leave.

Barry Odom’s UNLV squad might make the CFP this year
You guys are the bigger sport fans. This is purely an opinion, based on 0 research. But seems to me, NFL is place to go for DC's looking to be successful HC's. That College level, in today's game (qualifier) DC success at HC is more the exception, than the norm.

That’s why I didn’t understand Deboer being upset. I saw it twice, and I didn’t see us change personnel after bringing on the ones after the break. The announcers made a suggestion that we substituted, but I told the people I was watching with that it was after a break and why would we substitute?
Exactly. We did not substitute. They did with the same guy who faked an injury. Correct call.

We see how the AA and their strongly worded directives to stop faking injuries worked out. More of them than ever. Start throwing an unsportsmanlike on the offenders and it will come to a screeching halt.

Until we blast our way into the playoffs and make some noise, the game announcers/media will be apologists for the old guard. Then the suck up will kick in for everything Orange.

Sending a child to Basic and not hearing from them for months is a very unique experience. People try to compare it to sending a child off to college, I have done both and it is very different. When my son went to Benning it was almost like he died. No communication for almost five months. He went in at the peak of the Trump build up and was stuck in Reception for over a month.
What is your son's MOS?

Can they not write letters? My brother joined the Air National Guard and was at least allowed to write letters. I sent him printouts of the VolQuest War Room so he could keep track of off season developments. The big news at the time was Daniel McCullers committing. Anyway, the rules may be different since he was joining the reserves.

Fair enough .

Shiiiii I’m all good with selling whatever reason Banks will buy to stay

We can also offer all you can eat Petros, $100 gift card to McKays bookstore, and a 2 minute FaceTime with Peyton Manning.
