Random question.

I was at the UF game and noticed that Smokey (live mascot) only ran out of the T at pregame and then retired to the tunnel on the south end of the stadium. Typically, in the past Smokey would stay on the field and run the end zone on scores.

Anybody have any insight? I haven't been to a home game since Smokey XI took over and thought maybe he doesn't handle the noise well.

I was at the UF game and noticed that Smokey (live mascot) only ran out of the T at pregame and then retired to the tunnel on the south end of the stadium. Typically, in the past Smokey would stay on the field and run the end zone on scores.

Anybody have any insight? I haven't been to a home game since Smokey XI took over and thought maybe he doesn't handle the noise well.

This was announced preseason. He's not handling crowd noise well. If I was a betting man I'd say he's gonna be retired this year or next. He was supposed to start last year but they had to bring the last one out of retirement for one more season.

Lot of people in this fanbase apparently have never had an ankle injury lol. Real Occams Razor moment tbh.
Shockingly, he's hurt and playing through instead of some harebrained **** about NIL and being lazy.

I don't blame people for grasping for answers but things are often much simpler than the conspiracy

Many of us played football and many of us know what some of these injuries look like. I had a high ankle sprain and I'll tell you I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. That was the worst year of football of my life and in other years I played with broken shoulders, a broken foot, smashed fingers, etc.

I wasn't the one that found this, but this poster is typically reliable.

Matthews has been leveling DBs in practice in downfield blocking for the last two weeks. He has the best raw talent of any receiver we have. He finally understands the route trees. I think he will make some plays this weekend.
