One could argue it was addition by subtraction. Tigers were 52-57 (.477) after Trade Deadline Day. They are 28-16 (.636) since then. Over the past 35 games they are 25-10 (.714), which is the best record in the majors.

Chris Sale with another start not allowing more than 2 ER. That makes 18 consecutive starts doing so. He has pitched 5+ innings in all but 1 of those games and he went 4.2 innings in that one. In fact, if you look at the entire season, he has allowed no more than 2 ER in all but 3 starts. Should be unanimous NL Cy Young.
