Looks like a copperhead. Took me a while! As for the other photo, I don't get people who try to drive Australia unless they have half a year. Land in Sydney, fly to Uluru/Ayers Rock, fly to Great Barrier Reef. (Yes, you will miss a lot of cool stuff, but one always does.) Or some similar choices of your liking.
