I could see somebody sufficiently progressive registering as a Republican to vote in primaries. Especially if they’re politically indoctrinated enough to try to kill. Seems like more motivated certainty about things that are uncertain.

Seems to me that neither the party registration nor the $15 contribution compel much of a conclusion. We'll learn more when they crack his phone at Quantico. Even people somewhat below the radar, or trying to be, don't understand how much is in there.

For example, if you cracked mine you'd see I like boobs, chess, and boobs.

I read/heard he got boosted up but had no firearm pulled and had to withdraw immediately. Then shooting was immediately after that.

People talk about wind or Trump turning but it may also have been the distraction of that interaction, or all three, that caused him to narrowly miss.

During the search for the suspicious person, officers with township police discovered that the gunman was on the roof, and one local officer hoisted another to get up to the ledge. The shooter turned around, saw the officer peering over and pointed his gun at him. The officer let go of the ledge to “take cover” and save his own life. The gunman then started firing from the rooftop.”

TIFWIW, but it seems like a pretty specific description.

It's plausible that whatever amount of time he thought he to start shooting was clearly up at that point. Being obviously discovered could have rushed his shot.

third theory..the LEO placed it there for survellience and just happened to come down and when he went back up, dude was there.
