I just want this story about his team stealing a Pitchcom, lying about it to us, lying about it to the umpire, his coach nearly fighting Amick, to be a big part of the story about his new job now. As I often note, if we just had one real reporter in Knoxville.
The NCAA should SausageBagel a show cause. He tried to rig the CWS. Go big with it.
I doubt the coach even knew. The kid probably got to the dugout and threw it away.I agree with in principal on many topics surrounding unfair officiating, shady conference tactics and general corruption but your conspiracy-meter is dialed up a notch or two high for me.
You are dead right on some of the conference preferential treatment of specific coaches/progrqms angle but I think that a number of the things that you are at 100% conspiracy on actually fall a little bit more in the realm of "competitors at an elite level will do anything to gain an advantage" and don't have anything more than the actions one person or party behind them. Your reaction to this incident is a little extreme....
Was it suspicious seeming? Yes
Shady if guilty? Hell yes
Worthy of expending time/resources to investigate and prove? No, and I recommend monitoring any outrage from TV, any other staff members, players or AD. Maybe it would be treated different by all mentioned if we lost but we didn't.
I disagree with the article that transfers should not be considered. Both incoming, and maybe more importantly outgoing transfers drastically change rosters. if you only use highschool incoming, and do not account for those leaving, the numbers are skewed. Take our last Pruitt class, almost none of those hung around long enough to be developed.
