Ensley status?

We had family over for Father’s Day and they wanted to take photos during Chapman’s home run and the Ensley update. 🙄

Is he okay for Wednesday?
I think he will be ok.. looked like he had a nice bruise on his glove side forearm. Gets two days of beautiful rest. BaseVols have the best trainer in the biz.

I believe the tape shows he suffered a high ankle sprain on the later at-bat’s strikeout swing. He was ambulating fine for a bit, then took a very weird twist of the ankle swinging on a super low, super inside pitch. Forced his fibula and tibia over the ankle pretty fast. Walked off with some immediate awkwardness, of which the limp got noticeably worse in the dugout.

Not a doctor. But would likely mean out for CWS. Praying I’m wrong. GBO.

You just took a couple of years off my life with that headline and at my age, that's no small thing. Having said that, you just became a hero to a lot of folks on the board.

Probably ought to check McKee or any of the other Tennessee beat writers. I saw a shot of him in the dugout after he was removed from the game. He was tenderly touching the side of his lower hip area. I’d guess any “discomfort” was due to slamming against the wall.

CTV used the term “wobbly”. The more I think about that comment and watch the replay, I am wondering if maybe Ensley didn’t get pulled for concussion protocol. His face hit the wall at full speed. That means his brain got jarred pretty good too. That was the equivalent of taking a really hard hit from a linebacker and unlike football players, there is no padded helmet.

Almost looked like he was favoring his right hamstring, though I didn't see anything to suggest he hurt that part of his leg. He did have the awkward swing on that "uh-oh" pitch that fooled both him and the pitcher. But I didn't see anything ankle-wise that would have been cause for concern. The hit to the wall was to his left side, too, so if it was a hip issue, it could be a hip flexor strain due to the awkward swing.

Yeah I actually thought that swing was the bigger issue. Maybe just a hamstring cramming or something, once those hit you're pretty much useless in my experience.

“Vitello believes Ensley injured his hip on the play in which he recorded the first out in the top of the second inning.”

"Right after the catch I felt it," Ensley added. "We taped my leg up a little bit for my last at-bat. The range of motion just wasn't there then. I talked to coach Vitello. He said we really can't afford me not being able to go run down baseballs out there.“

Watch CTV's post game press conference. He clarified that he didn't mean wobbly like that.
