I like WHIP. Very good stat as it measures how many baserunners you allow. To say they ERA it's based on luck is not at all true, IMO. You can ask Bob Gibson if you don't believe me.
The year that he had the 1.12 ERA…. He was at the top in WHIP and K/9 innings as well…. I didn’t say it was all luck just that ERA is not the best stat to demonstrate how a pitcher actually pitched and his ERA will usually correct itself to be more in line with his WHIP and other predictive stats.

No different if a player has a high BABIP like Ahuna did. It usually indicates that his average is elevated and not a true indicator of that players hitting ability.
