I have used a bunch and have settled on Dixie Custom’s out of LaFollette. I know the owner and he is a good person who makes a quality rod. I give them as presents and everyone loves his work. Would love to try out the gentlemen in Cleveland. I do a lot of ledge fishing. I love C-rig on a ledge. WoLudwig like to see what he offers there. is there a website? My cousin lives in Cleveland and uses his rods. Loves them, he does a lot of flipping and cranking and always talks about how sensitive they are. I used to use All-Star many moons ago and absolutely loved them, especially their 7 6 flipping stick. Now they're garbage of course since Shakespeare bought them. But my cousin tells me nothing is like those customs he uses. I have to say though, my Kistlers are very light and very sensitive. Between you and him, I may have to try a Joe burns custom rod. Have you fished with a Kistler helium?

Not a high roller. I went once back in 90's. Its super expensive. One thing I do have on my bucket list is to go deep sea fishing one time.
Any of you high rollers every done it?
My understanding is that OBX is closest in proximity, ergo likely cheaper for chartersDoesn't matter how far offshore. Just would like to experience the rush one time.
Thanks for information and help. May have to dip into retirement money and take a relaxing trip with my son, he loves fishing as much as I do.My understanding is that OBX is closest in proximity, ergo likely cheaper for charters View attachment 638508
For instance, in HHI we had an 10-18 mile ride one way . Also, fishing is prob better in OBX. Maybe look at Charter out of Ponce, Daytona. Red Snapper season would be![]()
Invol may know more. But my thoughts (based on my buddy, who's buddy's third house is in OBXThanks for information and help. May have to dip into retirement money and take a relaxing trip with my son, he loves fishing as much as I do.
Every time I'm in the OBX and want to go out to fish there's rain. It never fails. Also that map of the gulf stream is slightly wrong. The stream follows the entire NA Atlantic Coast hits Iceland and the goes down to the UK and HispaniaMy understanding is that OBX is closest in proximity, ergo likely cheaper for charters View attachment 638508

I've been twice and won't do it again. We would drop baits straight down, hook up, and then crank up the fish as fast as possible so a shark wouldn't get it. Not a big deal until you crank up a 7ft shark and your arms feel dead. We also trolled some. That style of fishing just doesn't do anything for me. I absolutely love inshore saltwater fishing for reds, trout, and flounder...especially on my kayak. I think it's more rewarding and more relaxing than offshore fishing. One thing I do have on my bucket list is to go deep sea fishing one time.
