You're saying that your 1 1/4" wood inside the hole does the trick?

Its well established that women prefer girth to length...but i am thinking 1 1/4" aint getting it done regardless of diameter. I am admittedly easily impressed and often surprised though. So theres that...

dangit!

Incomprehensible tactical mistake on my end.

Yes that inspector is ridiculous bud. Especially when you offered to add a new post under where the beam was allegedly weakened. That is much stronger and cheaper than straps....and we use thousands of feet of strap per job sometimes. That sounds like an inexperienced inspector using a dumb technicality rather than what logic and good building practices call for. Welcome to my world.

and pex is known for staying pretty flexible and not getting hard...

But the pipe you used is flexible so with it being limp it provides no support.
In elementary school recess we used to play smear the queer. Part of that game was the "pile on". I am delighted you two are reliving the glory days of your youth by piling on.

That's my feeling as well. He's not a 'bad guy' or a jerk. He just doesn't want to get outside of his box of checklists and think about a viable, or even better, solution. Sux. But were about to sink about 60 screws in 6 linear feet of frame boards to make them "stronger".

That's a lot of screwing, are you up for that?

So, my car was in a hit and run while parked at a garage during my time out of town. Just 3 weeks prior, I had been rear ended while backing out of a field at an outdoor concert (neither of us reported it since we had a few beers and decided it wasn't worth bringing in police). The hit and run did more damage to the exact same areas of my car, so I'm now paying my $400 deductible to have about 3k worth of repairs done.

The gods smile on me this day.

thankfully it was just one CC, and one with a very low cap. was able to cancel the charges, cancelled the card, and getting a new one. also went through and set up a credit/identity watch thru the credit agencies for some peace of mind.

I was amazed with how tone deaf the CC fraud people were. after cancelling the order, and card, the guy was pushing me to raise the limit on the card. The limit on the card is why this got triggered. tried explaining it to the guy, and he said that makes sense but I am raising the limit to X, but we could raise it higher if I wanted. I told him no, I want to keep back at .4X. "but sir your credit score will let it be much higher, think of all the things you could use the card for going forward." told him to keep it low, because that would be that much more money for someone else to get.

hung up, then called back to my CC company an hour later to make sure the limit stayed low.

I got a notice of a purchase on my PayPal account which I haven't used in forever. I pondered it all; decided not to call anybody and deleted my credit card from PayPal. When I logged in to PayPal there was no record of the transaction, so I wondered if it was a phishing attempt to try and get me to call the seller.

I know what you mean about the CC fraud people. I had a charge on a CC a few years ago and got it zapped and the card replaced. The fraud people wanted to know if I reported it to the police ... like local cops would/could do something about a fraudulent $300 charge made somewhere else in the country.
