As she should and as most coaches have. The portal is the reason Mulkey was able to turn it around so quickly and win at LSU. Between the players left to her by Nikki Fargas and the additions in the portal (Reese, Morris, Ladaiza Williams, Poole, and etc) she was able to win sooner than most expected.

That's why it's both. Other highly successful programs like So Car and UConn build a strong foundation w hs recruiting and plug gaps w portal players. That's the luxury of getting the very best high school recruits. Hopefully we'll get back to that hallowed ground soon

To say HS was not apart of the discussion is to say you haven't been around here long enough. The many times the previous staff was criticized for "whiffing" on high school recruits its asinine to say it was never a part of the discussion.

Let's continue to see how they recruit and bring in players of their own. The two they have landed and one of the ones they are waiting to commit were all visited initiated by the assistant from the previous staff and 2 of those players (Latham and Whitehorn) would've been Lady Vols previously if we didn't rescend the offer for other players (Kea and Jillian).

Again, she is doing everything right and I praise her and the current staff. I also give Danny praise for having the balls to make such a decision. Just hope it pays off and will not fully jump in when I feel if the same luxuries being offered to the current coach were offered to the previous one, maybe we would've got past a Sweet 16.

But it's water under the bridge, but please lets not continue to act like the red carpet isn't being rolled out to ensure that Danny won't have an egg on his face for and this is my opinion "settling" for coach Caldwell.

Nope, just Nyla and honestly I wonder if she is still a target or if the re-offer was because her uncle and others spoke out about the new regime not reaching out to her/them.

Would love to see who else we may offer in 2025, they may also already have a list of players (our assistants) that they offered while at their previous stops that they have reached out to and if those players already had an offer from Kellie, they may not feel the need to re-announce if that makes sense.

Late to the party on this, but still early for predictions. But when has that ever stopped us, espec when news is slow in off season.

Knowing alot can still change, but based on today's rosters, I agree with these placements almost completely. IMO the first four are solid, OK joining the solidarity by picking up Beers.

I like Bama a bit more the OM, partly bc I think Curry is a better coach. Not a better promoter, but better coach and with a really strong returning roster. They're my darkhouse to break into the top 4, if anyone does. Like you, I also think KY will be in the second tier mix. They have an All American pg and unlike others I'm a Kenny believer. Also definitely agree our positioning amongst the 5-8 will depend on additional pickups fm the portal.

IMO Auburn is the biggest threat to get into the second tier. Johnnie got some things going on, good for her. I have Ms St in the Vandy/Auburn group of unknowns who just might . . .

The rest - yikes. SEC is girl with curl, when they're good, they're So Carolina, when they're bad they're Mizz/Geo/Fla/Arky.

Finishing solid in the second tier would make the tourney and would be a really solid start for CKC in spite of DWs whacky over prediction. IMO, without an elite-level portal pickup (or two) this is exactly where we would be this year no matter who the coach was.

Every disagreement with you is not an insult to CKC.
Lets just all agree that a coaching staff needs to have a good hs and portal recruiting game.

It’s a win win for him. Go to the tournament with a new coach…win. Miss the tournament…win, because it showed he had to make a move because of the roster mismanagement of the previous staff.

True. Cards will be played closer to the breast with this staff too. imo. I think that may have been one of DW’s problem with prior recruiting strategies.

You make a great comparison, Lucy. Just like (also) everything that someone else might say is not automatically an insult to CKH or intended to be. We need high school and portal recruiting. Let's just all agree that we also can be fans of VFL KH and of new coach KC. 🍊

You are so funny! Of course that is true but you’ve got to admit a lot of atta’ girls for KC includes a direct or inferred(“last year”) dig at Kellie. You’d think we could let a LVFL with three natties suffer in peace.
