2024 Transfer Portal Thread

I could care less about all those numbers. After 5 of the last 6 seasons getting to 25+ wins we have established that we will are a top tier regular season program.

All I want is to win in March. Good riddance Aidoo. He didn’t even compete in those last few games. He was a liability. He basically just laid down and took his whipping against Purdue. Give me a halfway decent big with a sack and I’ll call it an upgrade for the tournament next year.
We might already have that on roster with Estrella if he takes the next step this offseason

I get the frustration with Aidoo, but to turn on him like he wasn't the 4th best big in the SEC this season is wild.

4th in Total Rebounds (3rd among bigs)
3rd in Blocks
7th in Total Points among Forwards

Broome, Tolu, & Samuel are really the only bigs that put up better numbers per game.
yes but Aidoo is houdini with a lot of disappearing. At least those you knew what you had/get

Sounds like BS to me. From what I understand that’s not how Spyre operates. They don’t play that game. They present you with a package and that’s your offer.
Disagree. Spyre is quasi UT. UT somehow lets them know who is important and who is not. Spyre is not on an island making isolated decisions. Spyre is not offering someone that UT does not want. Do not know how it works. There has to be some type of communications. And with that Spyre can raise NIL if they are told to.

Sure, but that’s much different than what you previously said.
Well to clarify in my previous I just meant in this specific situation with Igor. I don’t see them offering X amount and then 3 days later up his offer because Baylor gave him a better one. I think he probably got an offer and it is what it is. Obviously offers change over time as priorities change, but I don’t believe they are just one upping other offers.

Trimble apparently heading back to UNC. If Ingram goes back, that’s a very crowded wing for Tyson to be walking into.
With him returning and uncertainty about Harrison Ingram returning or not doesn’t that help our cause with Cade Tyson? There’s immediate playing time with us. We lost our top scorer and wing in Knecht and he can jump right into that spot. Dubar into the JJJ role doesn’t change that at all. I’m just confused why Tyson would risk going to UNC where he doesn’t know if he will start or not rather than coming to UT and getting the opportunity to start and play under Rick Barnes for 2 seasons to get NBA ready.

You want madeness? Duke--Duke--has only two players left on its roster: 1 player out of eligibility, 2 aiming for the NBA, and 7 in the portal. I had to chuckle at the comment by freshamn Sean Steward, the most recent player to choose the portal: "I am grateful to have fulfilled a dream to play for the Blue Devils! I made some great memories that I will always cherish," Stewart said in a social media post. "I have decided for my continued growth and development of my basketball goals, I will be entering the transfer portal."

It is confusing: Stewart is a guy who surely was poised for a prominent role next year---but wants to leave. Is it strictly the money he and the others hopes to get from others programs? And now Duke will have to offer nice money to bring in comparable (best case) transfers? There is no sense in this--it's stupid.

Wish Tyson would come here, but I’m very pessimistic
Yeah I mean I think with Tyson being from North Carolina it’s tough but if Harrison Ingram comes back all bets are off on that front and I think we get him, Ingram looks to have a second round grade so there is potential for him to come back for a year to prove something.

I would've been fine having him back on the team. The game against Purdue wasn't great, but Edey was a pretty unique challenge.

Now, if he told our staff that everything was fine, surprised them by entering the portal, and ends up at Kentucky ... he will be persona non grata here forever. He's entitled to do whatever he wants, but that'll be a big yikes.
I guess this is where I'm at as well. I'd rather have him as not BUT I think we'll be ok without him. On some level I do feel bad for him. CLEARLY...the stage and increased talent level against Creighton and Purdue where too big for him (no pun intended). And I don't think Coach Barnes is the type to overlook not being truthful about your intentions (although I'm sure it would be a bit intimidating to have that meeting with Rick). If he goes to Kentucky...that stage will be red hot. Hopefully...for his sake...he makes a good decision.

I also saw someone say Kentucky somehow managed to get Tshiebwe or whatever his name is some money, so maybe it's not completely set in stone. Reportedly the center from Arizona going to Indiana also is getting a boatload of cash. Curious if anyone can explain if there are exceptions.
Pretty sure they played a preseason tournament in the Bahamas and set up a bunch of ads/sponsorship stuff for him to do while he was there.
