Now do Tennessee. How many Lady Vols averaged more than 30 minutes a game? How many even averaged 32 minutes a game?
Looked at this last week. Four of the starters averaged right at or just above 30 minutes per game. Rickea was highest of those at 34ish.

Minutes and subbing are going to be a question no doubt but that’s all right. Anytime you introduce something new there will be questions. I’m sure CKC is expecting them and will be glad to answer.

Questions seem not as welcome here today. Such hypersensitivity! Ripping a poster for posting rumor around here is like giving out speeding tickets at Indy. My impression of the new coach is that she’s sharp and self-assured and does not need the hyper defense behavior on her behalf.

I really hope she does well - because all you sunshine folks on here are going to have a major meltdown if we end up with leftovers from the transfer portal and next year looks no better or worse than this year. That first 40-point loss is going to sting badly. I hope it doesn't happen, but I fully expect it will.
As a proud fan of The Fighting Kellie Harpers, you want that to happen really bad. Burn the program to the ground! Kellie should have been the forever coach!

Nothing wrong with posting rumors and speculation as long as you’re clear that’s what it is. Posting rumors like they are fact or like you somehow have intimate knowledge is the part people can’t (and shouldn’t) get on board with.

Same folks that ripped Kellie all the time!
Again Kellie and Kim are not a zero sum game! Can support and wish the best for both!

Can some of y’all for a second entertain possibility of middle ground? There are many, probably most, who realized it was time for a change yet still have questions about the new coach. While also wishing her well. Why is that hard to understand?

Actually I think y’all do understand that perfectly but leap to extreme sides for sh*ts and giggles. That’s the real pot stirring going on.

I believe in the power of attraction. Whatever, and in what manner, we spend our time thinking about things before those thoughts emerge into words and actions, is really important to be aware of. So I am trying really hard to keep my thoughts and desires and words for my beloved Lady Vols program on a positive track, 'cause I feel like if we all did that instead of letting our minds run wild into all the possible bad things that could happen, then maybe we'd attract good luck, great players, happy fans, and championship trophies for the Lady Vols' case.

"For how many consecutive minutes are you playing with full and effective intensity before you get tired and need a breather? How few minutes before you'll be ready to renew your play at full effectiveness?"

In CKC's system, the response to those two questions will determine how many minutes the best players get.

Isn't a coach's task to put each player in situations where they can best succeed?

This is simply the normal coaching task applied to the aerobic aspects of the game. Getting tired or winded doesn't just degrade your physical abilities, it also degrades your mental game. Having a coach give you rest before you do something that impacts your team negatively on the court can only improve your personal stats as well. So why would any player complain about that?

The player's incentive therefore becomes to be in the best shape of her career before the season starts. You want lots of minutes--have your body and mind ready. Contact Santi Vescovi and ask how he got himself into such incredible shape two years ago.

This is why I opined earlier in some post that CKC's system has a wider reach in recruiting because it's less dependent on a player's DNA than on the capabilities they can develop with hard work. They won't need Dalton Knecht's late adolescence growth spurt to succeed at Tennessee, only his focus and work ethic.

Why do you hate America? :)

Where in the post I was replying to did it mention anything about wishing CKC well?

Maybe it’s just a lack of info right now causing everyone to be hypersensitive? It’s been a crazy week so I would hope everyone would extend a little grace to each other. Not everyone is the same personality and gets onboard change the same exact way. Some people have more questions or worries than others until they have something more concrete to believe in. It doesn’t make them a bad person or mean they want to burn anything down. If they were tearing her down as a person or calling her names, I’d understand but having a question about her system at this time isn’t some unforgivable sin.

I’m not going to debate, but I’ll say go watch some film of Wynn going in for layups and then go and watch her high school film and tell me if u see a difference.
There is no debate. You dislike all of our players.
And please don’t do the ā€œI just know when I watch them that……….ā€
I trust the coach’s evaluation.

Jackson averaged 31.5 ... no one averaged even 32, and no one else broke 30

These discussions seem pretty unrealistic. Even if CKC is going to be "the next big thing" in WCBB, she is, right now, at the power 5 level an unknown quantity. Coaching one year at Marshall does not create a lot of national exposure either. The idea that she can be a portal magnet and draw in the top prospects is about as likely as the prediction that Becky Hammon or Dawn Staley would be in the job now.

The kind of players CKC is most likely to attract will be in a similar position to her own--talented, potentially underplaced, and wanting to prove they can do it at the big time level.

She will have done well to add 3 or 4 skilled but underrated players that fit her "system" and the integrate them into the returning core.

If CKC can have 100% retention rate of the current roster, that will be in of itself a huge accomplishment. If she can lure Nyla Brooks, that is exceeding expectations for her first real recruiting test.

Going forward, CKC needs to create a lot of positive buzz around the program--hey something interesting is going on at Tennessee-- that recruits would want to be a part of. To do that, she will need a win against a top 10 team and leap frog Oklahoma, Alabama, Ole Miss, and maybe Vandy are looking to be forces in the conference. The SECs big three will be SC, LSU, and TX. If CKC can get the LVs in their general vicinity (get a win or two against them) with a 4th place ahead of the other contenders, then CKC will have a much stronger platform for recruiting than she does right now.

Unless we are offering insane amounts of NIL, she’s going to have do more with less more than likely. If she can accomplish that in a very, very tough SEC, then recruits will start to take notice.

That’s what we’re concerned with? Getting just enough to keep the streak alive?

You mean just like last season? Super fun to watch, Danny agreed, clearly.

What’s the freaking point if you’re not competing for championships? Kellie was never going to, never has, never will. That ship has sailed and that’s why we are trying our luck with someone who has had success only Kellie could dream of.

If you don’t think winning a DII national title is not difficult I’d like to see you try.

I mentioned Tanya Haave earlier, one of Pat’s players and probably the best coach she ā€œproduced.ā€ She’s never even sniffed a DII national title in 13 seasons.
There is a difference in hopes and expectations. We obviously hope for a ff next year but I think it is an unfair expectation of our new coach. Baseline is making sure we get into the tournament. A reasonable goal would be team fully employing her system and playing well at end of season. Championship game SEC tournament. Early season struggles with new system might hurt our NCAA seeding (as did Rickea’s injury This year)) so if not hosting first round and playing a say 3 seed second round a sweet sixteen might be a good goal. Better would exceed expectations but is doable.
Can we please quit slamming Kellie everytime we talk about CKC?

the issue is this is a fan page,,,even other "Roosters" are appreciated here bc even though they show alliance to their school,,they are here as real fans of TN too.

Every post you make,, even a good one,, is so you can turn it into a negative one.
It gets old
real OOOOOLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDD

Quite frankly this is tame in comparison to some of the crap that has come from you over the years. He who states he comments as a coach, Not a fan. Yet I've seen videos of what you call coaching and it floors me. You look as though you never really played the sport just by how you pass the ball and dribble. I'm surprised you're commenting on something I posted rather than stalking 13 y/o girls claiming to be a coach and making crazy attempts to promote them with the new coaching staff, i.e. Maddie whomever she was who was Mid Major talent level at best. What I said are facts. Power 5 players are very different in skill and athleticism than D-2 players and mid majors. This coach has not recruited or coached on this level yet. So again, hopefully she has the ability to bring in that talent and hopefully the chaotic style of play I saw out of Marshall when playing VT carries over to the SEC, but we will know when the NCAA tournament rolls around. Have a nice day!

Of course they were. The ole, I was coming but the ya’ll let go of my girl. I’m sure they would have committed this week and saved the day.
It's not like three McDonald's All Americans over the last two years haven't come out of the portal. Ruby WhiteHorn, Rickea's high School teammate and former All American was supposed to be on campus last Monday until Kellie was released and cancelled. She did bring in Talasia, Rickea and Jillian all former High School All Americans.

Dak ,you have been on this site long enough to know that Kellie ....god bless her soul ...had not signed a high school recruit in two years. With the departure of Jackson the cupboard is almost bare of athletic ,top notch basketball players .Moreover, the type of players needed for the new coach's system is different than the system used by Kellie. So everything is conjecture right now about what players will be signed by the Lady Vols both from the portal and high school .

This just my opinion ,I think that the Lady Vols basketball team will make the NCAA next year and she will get some players out of the portal that will fit her system .She said in her last interview that the 1st month of the season when she has started at the two schools she has been head coach were not good because of implementing her system but after that expect good tidings. No one knows what will happen but I choose to be optimistic in what will happen in the future.
I've been here a minute. Been following the program since Dena Head was on the roster. I knew Dena in high school.

I wouldn't get to upset about the portal as there are 1100 uncommitted players and I expect most will take more than one visit. There are some really good mid-major players in there that may be as good or better than all the big names that are getting touted. We should be getting some information on some visits next week and who our Assistant coaches are going to be. If next week passes without anything then may need to worry a little cause visits should be happening by next weekend. Still all these players in the portal have until the end of summer to commit to a school although I expect the most of it to be done by the end of May or early June.

My thinking would be that if she knows anything about personnel at all she knows she needs to upgrade she has even said so a few times in interviews.
