My theory: I think the SEC as a whole (except UK and Bama imo) plays a more physical, grueling style of basketball. Vols, A&M, MSU, Auburn, USCj are most notable. By the end of the season, I think this takes a toll on every team in the conference.

During the season and when fresh, SEC teams can often punk other conferences and the in-conference teams that don't. See us vs UK and Bama. See what we did to Duke last year first weekend of the tourney. Illinois, NC State, and Wisconsin this year.

ACC and Pac12 generally don't play like that. Means they can get punched in the mouth by it but also means they're "fresher" come tournament time. Also, reflect on how much the ACC hated Rick Barnes when he was at Clemson and shook up the "gentleman's game" style they played.

Unfortunately its not going to get any better with the additions of Texas and OU. Texas also plays that style and it just lengthens conference season.

Big Ten played physical smash mouth basketball for years and everyone hated it. Now the SEC does the same thing..

Nah the SEC just sucks at basketball.

Only UK has ever won it all.

I don't buy that the SEC plays an extra physical style. The B1G IS physical basketball. The most. So is the Big 12. The SEC has slowly become pretty athletic and many of the top teams have been shooting and outside teams as of recent. Not big inside slobberknocker teams. This ain't SEC football.
