Anyway, there is a guy from Creighton who shoots threes like Steph Curry, at least that was what they were saying last night. I think we'd rather have had Oregon, although they went into double overtime. Hope Knecht is on.

This will be an unpopular statement. Oh well.

Voltello has been the best thing to ever happen to the Vol baseball program. One of his strengths has always been the sixth sense he has about pitcher usage. That has been missing in two of the team's losses - the third game at Bama and last night. He let two guys with some talent that were out of gas to come out to pitch at the end. In the Bama loss he used Russell as the starter for only two innings who had only given up one run. If the guy was innings limited, do not use him as a starter. He then left Snead in too long, who pitched over 5 innings in relief.

In both games the rest of the guys had battled back to take the lead only to have poor decisions and pitching to lose it. In both games Snead and last night, Russell, were clearly used up and being tagged. It was obvious they needed to bring in new relievers to give the other hitters a different look. His infatuation with using Combs and Stamos in key situations is also frustrating.

Pitching and pitcher usage is obviously a work in progress. It is not something to be overly concerned about yet. Hopefully our pitching will improve over time and Tony's good sense about the selection and hook returns. If it doesn't this is going to be a roller coaster season.
He may be playing more of a long game there. Those guys need to experience pressure and need more experience period. Our bullpen isn't as deep as it's been the last few years. We're going to have to have those guys work through this in postseason play.

Now, these SEC series are important though and losing the Bama series is less than ideal. We need to get back on track today.

By the way, they have to call that push off on the Texas three-pointer near the end of the game. It was obvious, right at the focus of play, and created the space that allowed for a clean shot. Inexcusable to let that go in that situation.
I got upset at the no call on Aidoo’s layup with maybe 4-5 minutes left. The replay showed a clear hack on the shoulder/chest, and the broadcast said nothing. I think Aidoo may have also gotten fouled on his missed dunk.

I got a text that the fact that our last 3 trips to the line were one and one’s tells you something. Terry Oglesby is an SEC official, and he’s almost ascended to Adams and Teddy V for me.
