I think a "real" college degree proves two things: It proves you have a bit of tenacity and that you are trainable. It also gives you an introduction to your chosen field, but it doesn't make you any smarter nor does it remotely make you any kind of expert in that field. That goes all the way to medical doctor.

Change my mind.

I agree with everything except that "it doesn't make you any smarter." The sheepskin itself doesn't make you smarter, but successfully completing 4 year coursework in a marketable field of study should.

I guess we have to define 'smarter'. It gives you a basic introduction and a certain level of knowledge in that field of study. It allows you to converse in that field. Smarts is something you either have or don't for the most part. I also think wisdom is far more valuable than 'smarts', and the only way to gain wisdom is thru experience.

We are parsing words, and I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think the value of a college degree certainly isn't what it once was.

I don't agree.

Tulsi Gabbard would have a lot of explaining to do, concerning some massive policy position changes from 2020. Up until now, she has been very liberal. She supported Bernie Sanders in 2020. She has endorsed socialistic policies. How would she square that with running on a Republican Party ticket? It would be a challenge.

Agree. Tulsi essentially ended Harris in 2020 when Harris was polling at about 1%.
