I know the horseshoe shape the stadium makes is a huge part of its charm (and the nickname for the stadium itself), but it honestly kind of makes for a weird look because it isn't fully enclosed. There's the original horseshoe seating, then they eventually just dropped in another set of bleachers on the open end that doesn't connect to the existing seating. Sanford is the same way. IMO, it is kind of a "small school" look. It makes the stadium look smaller than it actually is.
The real problem with the horseshoe is that it is in Columbus, Ohio. I heard that even Christopher Columbus said it sucks.

This is the type of RB Bama and UGA have lined up against us for years and we had to scheme around as a defense.
Now we got Dudes like Seldon and Sampson, with Nico throwing the tater?!
Sounds good to me. 👍👏💥
That's what I wanted to say earlier "this is beginning to look like a Nick Saban team". I just couldn't hit the post reply button without throwing up in my mouth. 🤢

man, this bracket is tough. i got a lot of chalk....what upsets i do have, i don't have any making it past the sweet 16. i think Grand Canyon, UNM, James Madison, SAmford, UVA or CO St can win a game or two. after that it's hard to see a lot of those making out of the 2nd weekend. if Samford does beat KU, and i think they will, i think they can beat Gonzaga, but they're not beating Purdue. Same with James Madison, the're not beating HOU....i don't trust Duke, i could see a JMU/Vermont game. either way, i'm not sure Duke makes it any further than the sweet 16....i don't see them beating HOU either.

SDSU...that's another one...but would auburn really lose to them? if if they get past that, they're not getting past Uconn.

GCU or UNM in the West...they're not beating UNC/AZ/Bama/, are they?

our part of our braket is maybe the hardest 8 to figure. SC can beat Oregon, but could they beat Creighton? UVA and CO St is a battle of styles, and both styles can be a problem for an opponent. i could see the winner of that game beating TX. honestly outside of maybe Oregon, every team in our pod presents some issues for us, if we're not firing on all cylinders.....

i think we wind up against Creighton in the Sweet 16, and i think that's a tough match up. but get past that, chalk again Purdue/TN or Creighton.

i'm not sure anyone lower than a 3 seed gets to the final four, and i think it may be difficult for a 4 to get to the elite 8. Bama and UK are the two 4 seeds though that could. but that, again sets up BAma/UNC and UK/UH.....and UH is uber elite on defense. UNC/Bama....pick 'em.

ultimately i have Uconn and HOU in for sure...then from the West, UNC, AZ, or maybe Bama...and in the Midwest...Purdue and maybe TN or Creighton.

i do have us playing HOU in a final four game in one of my brackets. but i have Uconn winning all of my brackets. in one bracket, i have all 4 1 seeds in the final 4.

worst match ups for us in order, imo, are....USCe, Creighton, Co St, UVA, TX, Oregon, Akron, st pete. the only team that worries me in the top of our bracket is Purdue. if we could get to the Elite 8 against anyone other than them...i really, really, really like our chances. but i think we're gonna have a hard time just getting out of our pod.

gotta flush the last two weeks, and get back to Mid February form....that team that won 7 straight after loising to aTm.....that's the team that needs to show up starting Thursday. that team is going to be very hard to beat....if it's not that team.....well, hold on to your butts.
GBO.🍊
Don't go chalk. Chalk will fail once again.

New Mexico can beat anybody. Their PG Jaylen House (son of Eddie House) is really dynamic, super fast and they have a ton of guards all over the court. They match up well with almost anybody, especially the bammers of the world who don't play defense. I think an 11 seed is crazy low for them.

I like USCjr over Crieghton, Creighton is soffffttt

But eh, who knows. It's all going to be completely random.

What's really funny to me is how throughout the season everyone has been in awe of how unpredictable college basketball has been. It's been nuts!

But what do the "experts" do when it comes tournament time?

CHALK

🤣🤣🤣

On sports radio "I just think it will be chalk" 😂

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. There hasn't been more parity in college basketball than there is right now. It will not be chalk. Periodt.

Minus Khalid El-Amin, defending champion Connecticut never stood a chance against Tennessee.

Hobbled by a sprained right ankle, El-Amin was largely ineffective for the fifth-seeded Huskies, who looked lost Sunday in a 65-51 loss to fourth-seeded Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA South Regional. El-Amin scored only three points, while longtime rival Tony Harris scored 18 points for the Volunteers. The two junior guards have a prickly relationship dating to their days of AAU basketball and without El-Amin to guard him, Harris had free rein through the lane. He made just four of his 11 shots, but was able to draw numerous fouls and finished 9-of-12 at the line.

It was the first time in history that UT had won two games in the tournament.

This is another year the region was set up for the taking. The next game lost to a below average North Carolina team in the sweet 16. Actually led for most of the game if I remember correctly. North Carolina was a#8 seed and then defeated a #7 seed Tulsa team to go to FF. What could've been.

You can't have the underdogs going too far though. Most people who fill out these brackets either have their cinderellas going too far or are too heavy on chalk. You do need to pick upsets, because those are going to happen, but for the most part you need to have your Cinderellas out by the Elite Eight and definitely out by your Final Four. There are of course exceptions (George Mason, Loyola-Chicago, FAU last year, etc.), which is why it is still fun to leave them in for a long time.

For example, 2023's tournament was nuts but with the exception of FAU, all the really high seeds were out by the Elite Eight. The Elite Eight matchups last year were 5 vs. 6, 9 vs. 3, 5 vs. 2, and 4 vs. 3.

I've never been to a game there, but Michigan Stadium's layout supposedly doesn't lend itself to being super loud. I've heard it described by people who have attended games there (including Michigan fans themselves) say that for 107k people it isn't as loud as you'd think. The bleachers are not particularly steep, and it doesn't contain the sound very well. I also think a greater % of their fanbase is a wine and cheese crowd.

I have walked around the stadium, and it is odd (in a good way) that the top of the stadium is basically at street level. It's a totally different look on the outside than a place like Neyland. The outside of their stadium is admittedly nicer than Neyland.
Not as loud as Neyland, but the fans stood basically the entire game (Penn St). Cool shops within the gates. Couldn’t see the field as well since the stands are more leveled out.

good point on the parity....the one common factor though has been playing on the road, for most anyone has been tough. it's going to be interesting to see how good home court teams do w/out that, and how bad road teams do on a neutral court. at the end of the day it's about match ups. and i'm like you, good guards get it done.

problem is it seems like there's good guards all over the place.

then there's the great unknown....how will games get called? such a big part of this, and absolutely the most unpredictable part of it. i think that's why, even if most don't know it at the time, so many wind up going chalk.

One of the rare five stars uscjr signed recently isn’t a real football player. Just an athlete. Just like we told them.

If he has a legit chance of being an Olympic level sprinter then he should focus on it. They have long careers and can make a lot of money worldwide. That's a tough world to break into though and the only option for making that money is by being the absolute best. Otherwise, it's a money sink.
