Been there! How early did he start the travel? Is he burning out?

Once it feels more like a job than fun is when ya really gotta take a step back and think about it.

I started at 7 as was burnt by 15 and quit. Always started so nothing to do with that.

Brother started at the same age and was good til he graduated. Different strokes
He started travel at 9…. I told him that he didn’t play travel ball…. He stated he really wanted to play…. i don’t think he is burnt out…. I feel that he is just so afraid of failing that it makes him timid…. I’m not sure how to work that out of him.

I'm big in to trends. They're trending down. There's something going on with the psych of this team. I hope I'm wrong but those trends are hard to turn around. If they were competitive, close games, I would feel better. I realize they closed against KY but they were really outclassed. MSSU was about as bad a beating as I've seen in a while. Maybe they prove me wrong but if I were betting, I'd expect an early exit.

My advice is to let him know he is not playing for you but playing for fun. Let him know you already played and you’re only there to support him. Have fun trying hard and try hard to have fun is what I tell my kids.
Lots of articles out there but like anything you know your kids best. Maybe make a special day where you “have to” miss a game so he knows it’s not the most important thing in life…
The pros know it’s all on them, talent, luck, and determination. Parents can drive them to games but can also drive the “want” out of them by living vicariously…
