Except it's not really. Those screaming about it don't acknowledge every death in the US and are only choosing this particular one for political purposes. Hell, they're being led by one of the dumbest to ever spend time in the capitol. This is a cheap appeal to emotion instead of policy. Policy that could have been put in place years ago of leaders were actually interested in a change

Why not, he's catching flak for it. What would it hurt to reach out to the family?
It will not bring her back but would be a good jester to her family. He mispronounced the young ladies name, several times after reading it off of a button during his sotu address.
Basically apologized for calling an illegal, illegal.
Then went on to talk about how " these" people built America.
I'm sure he's checking his watch and will get around to it in a year or so, like East Palestine.

Again, should the potus be forced to acknowledge every murder in the US just because someone made it political? Why should one of the lowest house members be able to force the potus to acknowledge their outrage of the day?

Why did he have a button or coaster readily available with her name on it, that he apparently can't read.
This was not an accidental death. The girl was randomly attacked. Bludgeoned to death, her skull was apparently busted by an illegal that was allowed into our country.
Again I ask, what harm would it do to be a man and pick up the phone for a 3 minute call.

You still avoid the question. Should the potus be on the hook to contact every murder victims family in this country? How about traffic deaths ruled a homocide? Soldier suicides? Overdoses? How long do they have to make this call? How long does the call need to be?

Let's just set the baseline for all future presidents

This is true.
It is also true that certain tragedies become the galvanizing moment in our society. Amber alerts as an example. I don't know if Laken's death will serve as a catalyst for something better. My cynical side is dubious.

What's frustrating is we have the tech and ability to make immigration better for those wanting a life here and for those of us who here are already. But like most things, politics has screwed it up.

Holy chit! The press and the fact it was an election year made it an international story. The murder of Riley should be at the very least a huge national story.

But yes I agree that the precedent of a POTUS involving themselves in a local criminal matter (which Floyd fits that much more than the Riley murder) should have never been set.

There were almost immediate protests once the video was released. The city was in flames pretty quickly. That made the story
