Speirs was an interesting character. Very different from the straight laced follow the rules Winters. I liked them both very much. Both good leaders that men wanted to follow regardless of style.
My son and I got to interview one of these old veterans that was there, J.B.Stokes. It was an honor and privilege for us, and he was not shy about answering any of our questions about these officers.

From what I can gather, this is what I think we want today.

Beat Kentucky
Miss St to beat SC
Auburn to win

This would set UT up with SC at the 4 and Kentucky with a 5 seed and no double bye on UT’s side of the bracket. Easiest path to SEC Tournament title game.

If we take care of business it won’t matter, but for NCAA seeding a lose to SC would look the worst out of the other options. And for that reason I would prefer any other team to be the 4.

Who gets the 5 seed in the tie between uf and uk? And the three way tie between tamu, msst, and lsu?

Feeling we lose this one, the guys have used a lot of intense focus the last few weeks and are maybe due a naturall letdown...I hope not, but if we lose, I hope it isn't embarrassing.

No...I do not think that Kentuck as a overall team is better than us, we play defense infinitely better than them...but they are scoring at an absolutely insane pace, we have a couple good shooter/scorers...they have waves of them.

If we have a blah shooting game, and they are doing anywhere close to their norm, and if the refs are manipulating the game to a certain style..this could get ugly.

Where are my fellow reverse jinxers?

I'm a little worried about a letdown too, but we do have alot of leadership and the older guys have been here before so I don't know. Hopefully the opportunity to earn a 1 seed in the dance and a chance to sweep kensucky gives us plenty to play for...........and that feeling could be gas. I did have some deer meat nachos with jalapenos and hot sauce for lunch.

I wasn’t nervous until about 45 minutes ago, but the nerves have set in.

If Edey was 7" shorter he'd be lighter and more mobile. He'd have a different game and set of tools. Idk if he would be objectively better or worse. In a vacuum one can speculate that he'd be the exact same player with the exact same tools just shorter, but he probably wouldn't. It's the reason you don't have 7'4" guys with the mobility and athleticism of Awaka for example. The difficulty of motion is like exponential at that point.

It's all just pointless conjecture anyways. Edey has improved his game this year and his size is absolutely an advantage. I don't think a single one of us wouldn't want him playing for the Vols.

I think Knecht is the most exciting player in the game but Edey is going to win it because of the stats he's putting up. Knecht doesn't have the all around stats to challenge like others mentioned. He's a bad defender and average at rebounding. If Edey had gone pro last year, Knecht would be the favorite to win.
Knecht is not a bad defender...he is not a great defender..they said the other night during the game that he was ranked like 31st in something like that in the SEC.

He is adequate...and we do not want or need him to be either completely wearing himself out or fouling out.

We need him to be adequate and horrible.

This year is going to be fun. We should hopefully be good enough to get a top 8 national seed or at the very least a top 16 seed, so we can host a regional.

We missed out on that last year but winning at Clemson and Hattiesburg was sweet.
I agree, a top 8 seed would be great and so far that looks very achievable. I do want to see how well we play in conference though. The sec is a grind.

And we absolutely should not have played in Hattiesburg last year, that series should have been in Knoxville.
