Besides a re match with Illinois, nothing too scary with this bracket.

no, nothing too scary, but i'd say this....SDSU is no joke, neither is Baylor. a Gonzaga/Co State game is probably pretty competitive, and could give AZ a run for their money. and if it were chalk to the reg final, playing AZ out west is a tough deal for the 1 seed.

kinda sucks that AZ is competing for the 1 seed in the West, and their consolation prize is being the 2 in the West? something seems off about that to me, but whatever.

love playing the first 2 in CLT....i think i'd be going to that.....it's a doable bracket for sure, but the team that might scare me the most would be SDSU, made the final four last year as a 5, beat FAU and Bama, lost to Uconn in the title game. followed by Baylor/AZ.

The article made me puke. Said Edey won the award by November and it wasn’t even close. Really?!?

From the Knecht as the runner up part of the article “…his single-game performances sparked a conversation that there’s a race for NPOY. There isn’t a race but he’s still good enough to lead the Vols to a final four.”
They so enjoy their role of deciding who deserves what and trying to influence outcomes.

he's an oaf with feet in the mud. but he's 8' tall and completely unguardable by mortal men.

he does nothing except "be big".

i heard one commentator say, in his defense of why Edey was deserving of NPOY, "he's the only player in the country other teams have to change their plans for".

well, duh. he's 8' tall and the only one in CBB currently....so is that becausae of some special skill he brings to the table or simply because 'he's big'.

everyone knows who the more versatile player is, who's had the biggest impact on their team's trajectory. but the decision was made when he decided to come back for this season. and that's that.

the best thing he did for TN Basketball.....brought his son with him. a bit harsh, sure. he wasn't gawd awful...but he was far from great. Mears and Davoe were what i grew up on, though too young to recall much about Mears....thru 90's we were not good most of the time. and outside the Helton years, we weren't much to talk about in baseball either. i think as a student i went to maybe a handful of basketball games and only a couple baseball games.....the entire time i was there.

i'm a little jealous of the students today.....Err'thing school has to be a lot of fun.

My memories begin with the Jerry Green era and how we had so much talent but always came up short. Then the Buzz Peterson crap show. Bruce Pearl came to Tenn when I started high school and what an amazing era it was. Wayne Chism is still probably my favorite Vol ever.

Yes. I think people got confused because Allan Houston was the FT shooter, but Corey Allen was the one who made the putback and was fouled while doing it. People just heard Allen and immediately thought Houston.
I think the guy that got in the lane and tipped it to keep it alive was like an Indiana player of the year in basketball. I cannot remember his name, but he willed himself to get that ball and it fell right to Allen.

I’ll never understand why some Tenn fans give Bruce sh*t. Don’t care he lied about a barbecue. I’ll always love Bruce and what he meant for Tennessee basketball.

Edey is also highly fundamentally skilled.

I agree he’s POY and has been for a minute. 2nd in scoring, 3rd in rebounding, 16th FG%, top 25 in BPG.

DK is a baller and the man but his stats don’t measure up for POY. 21st in scoring and 150th or worse in every other statistical category besides 3pt %.

I know people will call me a troll for this, but if the only 1 seed available is in the West I'm not sure I want it. My reasons being.
1 On the WC you're looking at getting stuck with the 9 or 10 pm east coast start times.
2 When looking ahead to the S16/EE I'd rather be in Dallas where I think you can get a better accumulation of TN fans rather than out West in LA where I don't think as many will travel.

yeah, Jerry's squads had potential, but never could put it together. Buzz, who i actually liked, just wasn't the guy for a big time job. good guy, good basketball guy...but probably better suited for smaller school that didn't need to recruit to compete in their league.

i liked Chism too. but i did love me some Ron Slay. he's exactly how he is today, as he was back then. excitable.

and yeah, Bruce...he changed everything. he'll always have a spot in the story of Tennessee basketball...that Memphis game....man. good stuff.

but Barnes has taken it from there. i remember thinking once Admiral and Grant and Bone were gone, that it was a good run, and how would we ever replace that team? and he did. Barnes has given us those guys from the 18-19 season and ZZ, JJJ, Vescovi, DK, Lamont, Pons, fulky etc....some really great players that have each carved out unique spots for themselves with fans.

it's been really cool and fun to watch the past decade. hope it continues....cause i think as along as Barnes is here, we basically expect it to now, and that's saying something in and of itself.

i'm fine with the PST start times, it is what it is, and i think TN fans will travel, plus, i'd imagine there's more than a few w/in proximity of LA that would make the trip, plus those that are probably there already. i may check my miles and hotel status, who knows....maybe worth a trip for the sweet 16/elite 8?

at the end of the day i want the most doable road to Phoenix and if that means being the 1 on the left coast, so be it.

but i do understand where you're coming from and i'd imagine you're not necessarily alone with that sentiment either.

plus, if we get trounced at home tomorrow and get bounced in our first game of the SECT, then it may take care of itself..............lol.

i'm not saying you should want that to happen............................................................lol.

Personally, I think we should have the 1 locked up regardless of tomorrow and the tournament but I seem to be alone in that sentiment.

So stats mean more than being a baller and the man? Well, that makes it easy to decide. Of course that will change when someone else has great stats but they want someone who is a baller and the man to win. Then they will lobby for that. Just like the Heisman winner had to lead his team to the most victories…until LSU had a bad defense.

How often do 8-loss teams get 1-seeds?

You know more about basketball than I but with Zona as close to us in the metrics, it kinda seems like slipping up down the stretch twice would be enough to fall back below them.
