Way too early for me to pass judgement. I think we have many capable arms but we are going to need them all healthy when it counts. Saying we arent as good as last year is not fair when you had both Dollander and Burns but this team has better chemistry and they don’t have to face a team with Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews either.
Thank god it’s just Cole Messina, Charlie Condon, Tommy Tanks this year…

But I see your point

Well yeah but those guys aren’t all on the same team. LSU paid for/won a national title and was the only team to beat us in Omaha last year. There are no teams as good as that team this season.
True. TAMU offense is the only one that I think is top to bottom on par with ours in conference or nationally.

But pitching always beats offense in the playoffs. Again, just look at the Braves last year.

But they can obviously get better. LSU’s staff behind Skenes was far far far worse than ours last season, but by tournament time they were arguably elite.

On Will Heflin and Ben Mckee’s new podcast, their concerns mirror mine. In a sentence they said this team will go as far as the offense takes them, because pitching isn’t nearly as good as it’s been since the 2020’s started.

That’s all well and good, but I saw what happened to the Braves team that mirrored our situation last year. Pitching needs to be better, regardless of how many runs we can put up.
Braves situation has been different. It’s a lot harder to be the best team in baseball and be forced to take an entire week off before you start your postseason. Ask the Dodgers how they feel about it. There is a reason wildcard teams are making the championship series instead of the best teams. They get to keep playing while the better teams are forced to sit. Try to be a professional athlete and take a week off before your biggest week of the season. Too many distractions and too much rust to knock off.

I prefer the Cardinal Way. Just be so stinkin‘ bad that you don’t even come close to sniffing the playoffs. I’m avoiding a lot of stress that way.
