Nick Saban: Alabama Players' Lack Of 'Class' Contributed To Retirement
From Andrew McCarty MSN

Saban was "disappointed" by the lack of "class" from Alabama players following the team's loss to Michigan in the playoff.
"I want to be clear that wasn't the reason, but some of those events certainly contributed," Saban said. "I was really disappointed in the way that the players acted after the game. You gotta win with class. You gotta lose with class. We had our opportunities to win the game and we didn't do it, and then showing your [expletive] and being frustrated and throwing helmets and doing that stuff ... that's not who we are and what we've promoted in our program."

Really Nick? After a loss you excused one of your players punching a young woman in the head as she ran by him because "he was scared."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I thought we could have a [expletive] of a team next year, and then maybe 70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I'm going to play because they're thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?" he said. "Our program here was always built on how much value can we create for your future and your personal development, academic success in graduating and developing an NFL career on the field.

"Value in your future" Really? Keeping them broke and with few options while others make millions off of them? Yeah, it was time for you to go.

Nick Saban: well known for his classy demeanor when things aren’t going well.

I love how you get into a recruit’s thread looking about information about said recruit and all you get is an argument about a coach from 10-15 years ago. We need to rename Volnation the Rabbit Hole.
Recruiting Forum Football Talk is Class of 2114. We’re filling in dead time waiting.

Every single word of that was a lie. He seen the writing on the wall and his advantage was gone.

Here is my dad joke for the day. I have an alternate ending I would like to follow up with.

Big Moron and Little Moron were standing on a bridge.... Big Moron fell off and the other didn't, because he was a little more on.

Alternative ending:

Big Moran and Little Moron were standing on a bridge.

Little Moron fell off because Big Moran pushed him straight the hell into the water.

Dooley hasn’t gotten a single HC job since he left UT and Butch has. Weird, conveniently worded, last sentence.

I’ll take the guy who won 9 games 2x, beat Florida, beat Georgia, beat VT, and won a few bowl games over the guy who never had a record above .500. And it’s not close.

I think a lot of UT fans give Dooley more grace because he said mama and britches. But he was a lazy ass recruiter who let the roster slip into oblivion. Butch at least worked.
I think his point was that Dooley is competent and knows football and the sport recognizes that. He's not a head coach, and that's fine. Neither is Rodney Garner.

Butch is not competent. He's not a football mind. And he's not a high quality person imo. There's a reason he couldn't get an actual assistant role anywhere. Arkansas State is going to fire him in the next couple of years. His success at Tennessee was recruiting some great players. Namely, recruiting Josh Dobbs. But his teams did and always will underachieve.

“Let’s just bring this past year up, for example,” North Carolina general manager Patrick Suddes said. “The portal opens up (Dec. 4). You are recruiting your current team to stay. You are recruiting kids out of the portal. Your coaches are on the road, finishing up the signing class for high school. They’re doing all these in-home visits.

“You are having anybody that enters the portal that you’re interested in coming on campus for official visits. Assistant coaches are leaving and taking other jobs, so head coaches are going to interview people for openings on their staff. You are in a bowl game or a championship game or Playoff, and you’re getting ready for all that. All those things — there’s not enough time in the day to really focus on the things that matter.”

“It cleans December up,” Suddes said. “It protects high school kids, being able to lock in a spot, as well, before the portal opens, which I think is huge.”

The fact he could not find a better job should tell ppl he wasn’t some defensive savant. The guy couldn’t even break the top 30 in total defense his whole career…yet ppl on this board hype him up for some reason
I liked his style and overall body of work. And recognized it was at San Diego State and Mississippi State.
