You keep making the same mistake. There are going to be MILLIONS of people casting votes against the Democratic nominee that have never worn overalls in their life.

Besides, what possible reason would the vast majority of rural'ish people (including educated and well off, which isn't really as rare as I suspect you believe) have to align themselves with modern Democratic policies?

My thinking is they use the pressure of Hunter's indictment to get Biden to step aside, Biden announces he's not going to run in maybe May/June leaving the selection of the nominee to the super delegates. Biden pardons Hunter on his way out of office.

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll issued Monday, over 48 percent of Democratic respondents approved of the party “finding another candidate to replace Joe Biden before the election in November”, while 38 percent disapproved, NY POST reported.

Over 48% is pretty close to 50, and certainly closer to 50 than 40.
Stated another way, far less than half of democrats disagree with replacing Biden.

That one objective is to beat Trump. Period.

Most dems would prefer it be someone other than Biden (but they do not agree on who that someone should be), but all dems do agree that Biden would be better than Trump.

The safest bet in achieving your only true objective is to have Biden win the primary.

It's like TN fans arguing over who should start at QB against bama. Bottom line, none of them really care as long as we beat bama. If they know that one QB guarantees that win, they will go with it, even if it is not who they see as the best QB moving forward.
