No no no... this was always going to be the next logical step. All of this hand-wringing about not sending long range missiles back in 2022 and we went from that to where we are today. Each step of escalation we tried, Russia matched and exceeded.
One more time... its boots on the ground for today. But I guarantee you that Russia is not going to be wasting time fighting in trenches and bunkers with NATO. As soon as NATO makes the decision to go in to Ukraine (expecting Russia to fight them in the same manner as they are fighting fellow Slavs), the hypersonics will fly. They may or may not have nuclear warheads (the kinetic energy alone of these hypersonics is enough to do damage).
I dont know what the West thinks their endgame is but these arent smart or ethical people making these decisions.
