@Nooga UGA would have beat Michigan right ?
Doubt it. But I think BAMA shot their shot against us. Their OL/DL didn’t look nearly as dominant as they did in SEC championship game.
It feels like Kirby changes how we play when we face BAMA. Our seniors went 50-4 with 2 of those losses to Saban. He’s gotten in Smart’s head for sure.

Josh Heupel had an ESPN announcer very irked during Tennessee's win against Iowa

Osweiler totally missed the point there. Heupel wasn't necessarily rewarding the backups. Those were development reps. Tennessee had young offensive linemen in the game like Vysen Lang, Masai Reddick, Larry Johnson III, and Shamurad Umarov.

Those are players that Tennessee needs to develop. And Heupel wasn't going to take a couple of knees when he could get five or six extra developmental reps for those guys against a really good defensive team in Iowa. There's no substitute for those types of reps. It wasn't about trying to score again (which the Vols didn't) or trying to make Iowa look bad. It was simply about getting those young guys a few live-game reps to end the season.

I looked over some NCAA stats this am. Disclaimer, I don't know if the bowl games are included in the numbers.

UT's scoring defense is improving every year:
'21; 90th in FBS, 12th in SEC
'22; 36 in FBS, 5th in SEC
'23; 23 in FBS, 3rd in SEC

What's encouraging to me is there isn't a stand out superstar on the defense who isn't returning next season. I also think our talent in the secondary is improving. We could easily be a top 15 and maybe even a top 10 scoring defense next year.
