Keep dying on that hill. While you're at it, take another lapthat’s freshman weight doesn’t mean S**t and that’s average for his height. You’ll see..that’s one thing about the big 10 you don’t mess with is their DL and LB’s Iowa and Wisconsin especially they’re bruisers.. big 10 thrives on being run stoppers..that’s why they’re so boring to watch.
Scheme is extremely sound. Liken them to us with offense. They play their brand of ball well. They do not have the athletes we do, but their scheme can cover some of that. The Achilles imo is can they score at all.Is Iowas defense good or do they just try and play ball control to keep the score low by running clock and also play poor offensive teams? The best Big10 team is 35 offensively and many of them are in the 100s.
you dont think Joe didnt consult with this coaching staff prior to making his decision? Clearly a 6th yr senior gives you a better shot at win here and now. It’s unlikely that we would have seen much Nico in the bowl if Joe didn’t opt out. Coaches were just more comfortable keeping the vets on the field.
Not to disparage the Iowa defense, as they are a very good defense, but this was their schedule this year. Not a whole lot of offensive juggernauts on that schedule...

My apologies sir , I thought you were just ranting about this situation...If Nico is starting this game....I hope with every fiber of my being that he plays great...or this place will be miserable Idiot Margin hell.
Just playing well ain't gonna cut it...you guys are expecting 350 and 5...or more.
I see nobody on that list, besides Kirby and maybe Ryan Day (neither of which would leave their current situation for Bama IMO) that ticks anymore boxes than Lane does. All very good coaches, but none are in a more elite group than Lane in today’s market.Kirby Smart, Kalen deBoer, Dan Lanning, Ryan Day, Dabo Swinney, Jim Harbaugh, Lincoln Riley. Those are the "name" coaches out there, right now.
There are a few understated options, too. Matt Rhule may eventually work himself into that conversation if he can produce at Nebraska after what he already did at Temple and Baylor. Lance Leipold at Kansas and Chris Klieman at Kansas State are both lifers who have worked themselves up thru the ranks and been successful everywhere they've been. None of those are "moon" guys, though. Not yet.
I didn't say Lane would be a bad choice. In fact, I think he'd likely be the best mix of both good coach, recognizable name, and realistic choice.
Mutual agreement between Joe and CJH most definitely...you dont think Joe didnt consult with this coaching staff prior to making his decision? Clearly a 6th yr senior gives you a better shot at win here and now.
But with a class inked, no championship at stake, his decision is absolutely best for him and his team's future. Nico is still a TF. He didnt get much if any garbage time.
The coaching staff was very loyal to Joe. And Joe to them. Which goes back to my very first point. Do you not think Joe soight counsel from this coaching staff?
If Joe stayed, he'd play. The whole game, period. But he didnt.
Good luck with that...............I do hope our fans set realistic expectations for Nico in this game. Feels unlikely though. It’s his first start and it’s against a true Top 5 defense. It’s going to be tough sledding due to opt outs and injuries as well. If he doesn’t throw for 250+ I hope our fans don’t immediately turn on him as a bust.
This is an enemy commentator (UGA), but he probably brings some of the best film and player evals of any YouTube person in the space. IMO. At 1:21 he talks about the stakes of the UT QB play in our bowl. It is brief snip, but worth a listen. His stance is this may be a harder freshman start than Bama or UGA due to the expertly disguised zone coverage Iowa runs. He says if Nico plays anything other than trash, he'll be calling him potentially the dude. He's had our number in recent years both positive and our negatives, so this is high praise, but also a warning in case Nico has a rough go.
He also made a wise case on why Milton would want no part in facing a stout NFL style defense prior to likely being the talk of the combine.
Completely agree. He is as dedicated and committed to this program as anyone who has ever been through here.Hats off to Joe. He stuck it out, was a great teammate, and continues to be to allow Nico to prepare for next year. He’s been an excellent leader and VFL.
Their defense contained Michigan pretty well considering they have 0 offense.Iowa has a good defense but if you can score like 14-17 on them that’s prob gonna do it. That’s one dogsh*t offense they have. And of course their defensive numbers were inflated bc they played people like Rutgers, Illinois, Nebraska and Northwestern all yr.
